Hi Anthea
I don't think the museum has the OASES database anymore, plus they charge $15 per name.

I believe that passenger lists for arrivals into Otago for the period 1859 and 1863 may not exist. Does anyone know if that is true?
I am trying to locate 3 passengers who arrived on those years (info came from ITMs) but have so far drawn a blank.
I believe one of the passengers, David Forsyth a Mariner, came over on the Alpine, which sailed from Glasgow June 10th 1859 - arrived Otago September 12th 1859. He seems to have been related to a John Forsyth, painter, who lived in Dundas Street, Dunedin. David died some time before 1877 but have been unable to trace him other than a possible mention on PapersPast regarding unclaimed seamen's letters in March 1860.
The other two, Daniel Bremner (settled in Dunedin as a labourer and carter)  and Susan Williams (married first to David Forsyth and then Daniel Bremner) arrived, not necessarily together, in 1863, I believe Susan came into Port Chalmers.
I don't know who Susan came to NZ with and recollect seeing a record about her on the OASES database at Otago Settlers Museum which mentioned other possible family members, but can't find my notes to clarify :(
Thanks in advance to anyone with knowledge on the Dunedin area who can help shed some light on my GGGrandparents.

Lincolnshire Lookup Requests / Re: Burial record for Lincoln Castle prisoner late 1850s
« on: Saturday 12 February 11 02:15 GMT (UK)  »
Thanks for the tip. Do you know where to find a record of burials there?
I saw a newspaper piece that said prisoners who came from Spilsby were returned there after the Winter Assizes, but can't find any record of a Thomas Wright having died there either.

Devon / Re: Can't find William WILLIAMS, Watchmaker, Devon

I am looking at the combination of markers (name of William, his wife Elizabeth, Susan, her approx dob, and William's occupation) but also allowing for false recollections/information which were apparent (the person who recorded the death was the undertaker who didn't even seem to know she had a daughter!).

The closest match with a Susan seems to be these, plus there are couple of random Susan Williams working as a servant which I can't place in a prior family.

I think this will be like looking for a needle in a haystack, and might have to try locating a passenger list to see who she might have travelled with.

Thanks. I've taken a look for them in the various census and so far none match up exactly, the closest being a William Williams Claycutter with daughter Susan.
Thanks for your help - the search continues
