Thank you so much for posting this!!  It's so hard trying to find information out, but this will also delight my Mum who is now 75 herself!  Please keep up the good work as it is so much appreciated!

Kindest regards

Hi Oriel

Thank you so much for having a look.  Do you think they were cremated then? Or just in time, their gravestones have been removed? Would I find them in the Parish records?  I'm confused as to why Evaline's death isn't in the indexes.  Any other ideas you may have, would be very much appreciated.

Again, many thanks for taking the time to visit the churchyards for me.

Hi Oriel
I've searched the death indexes via www.familyrelatives.com.  I looked at Lockwood and any variants I can think of!! I found George Berties in 1946 Quarter 1.  That would be brilliant if you could nip over for me, as I don't know how else I can find it!  I haven't found Alice or James yet, but I'm sure they will be there somewhere, so yes please!!

Hi All,
I wondered if anyone could lookup a death for me?  My Great Grandmother died in Cosheston, Pembroke from about 1947 to 1952.  I have searched the indexes and can't find it at all, and so I'm completely stumped.

Evaline Lockwood, Nee Fawcett born 1878 in Leeds and married George Bertie in 1901.  George Bertie died in 1946 and I know Evaline died after him.  They lived in Cosheston at the time of their deaths.

Many thanks for any help, anyone can let me have  ::)

Hi thanks for your reply.  Sorry for my ignorance, but what is MCI? and where did you find this info?  Unfortunately, what I posted is literally all I know about him.  The only other thing is my Grandfather saying he saw my GGf's name on a memorial in Edinburgh, which I find really weird.  I have looked at the Scottish War Memorial site, but had no luck there.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get more information on my GGF David Allan.  He was born in Glasgow 1888, married to Helen Dunlop in 1906 and had two boys, my GF Thomas Henry and David who died in WW2 and served in The Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regt)

My GGF died in WW1 but there are a couple of David Allan's that enlisted and that were born in Glasgow and I hope to find more information out if I can pinpoint which is correct.

I have looked on Military Genealogy, Ancestry and CWGC and on the regiment web pages.  Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated  :-*

David Allan regiment number 12395  d 11/04/1918 THe Kings own Scottish Borderers
David Allan regiment number 240621 d 13/04/1918 The Highland Light Infantry

Hi Hume,

Wow, thank you so much.  Yes that is my GGF's son David and I did think along those lines, that father would follow son.  Of the three possibles for GGF David, I have discounted 5088 as he was born in Kirkcaldy Fife, so that leaves us with two possibles;

David Allan, Private of the King's Own Scottish Borderers (12395), d. 11/04/1918
David Allan, Private of the Highland Light Infantry (240621), d. 13/04/1918

As you suggest, I will post these on the military boards  - thanks so much for your help  :D

Hi Kirsty

Yes, I have looked at that to whittle the list down, but thanks, any suggestions are greatly received! :)

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get more information on my GGF David Allan and I am hoping his will is at NAS.  He was born in Glasgow 1888, married to Helen Dunlop in 1906 and had two boys, my GF Thomas Henry and David who died in WW2.

My GGF died in WW1 but there are a few David Allan's that enlisted and that were born in Scotland, so if someone could take a look at a couple of wills in NAS, then this may narrow it down.  (I live in Somerset :-\)

The first reference is SC70/8/141/9 regiment number 2869 and the second reference I have is SC70/8/696/16 regiment number 650278.

I have a few more regiment numbers, but I'm hitting a brick wall trying to confirm which is my David Allan;  12395; 240621; 551093, so if anyone has any ideas, I would be very grateful. :)
