Thank you for all of your advice, it's something I will think about over the holidays and whether it is worth the cost to take further for possibly little further information on areas of my research.

Thank you for letting me know your thoughts on the DNA tests, as mentioned the blue eye genetic condition can remain dormant and skip a generation or so, but it is still there according to the research I've read.

So your Scandinavian heritage could still be correct.

I have done the 'paper trail' research, it was just the thought that DNA would add that extra bit and possibly after what you've mentioned the only use would be to resolve the issue of my surname which dissapears before 1736 with the odd mention in the 1400's (There is a DNA project with the supposed related surname).

Hi,

I've been researching my family history for decades and have two specific areas of interest that i'd like to check with a DNA test.

A leading researcher into a particular french noble family has agreed that I'm a decendant of French Huguenots and I was wondering if a DNA test would be any good for extra confirmation?

Through three branches of the family tree I'm also linked to some well known Vikings from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, would a DNA test help confirm a Scandinavian heritage.
A recent DNA research article has made me consider taking this further as it suggest all people who have blue eyes are genetically related to a specific Danish family.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Paul

Hi,

Many years ago I was given a Dolland Day or Night two piece telescope by my grandmother which is engraved with the name Captain J. A. Fisk - London. She didn't know how it ended up in our family in Lowestoft, it could possibly have been through my grandfather's side of the family.

It would be great to know more about Captain J. A. Fisk, any help/advice would be appreciated.
