Yes that is my Find A Grave posting. The wedding announcement was my first clue they left the US. I believe the sister is Sarah Ann but she was also listed as Sadie on one census. Thanks for the info on the gazette.

Good point. Sorry I didn't include more info. Yes Herbert and Clara "Holt" Cleeve were married in Kensington in 1904. She was American and he served in the British Army. Herbert died on July 15, 1948 at 77 yrs old and Clara died on July 27, 1957 at 90 yrs old. They are buried in Brompton Cemetery. I recently obtained a copy of Clara's will and it mentions a niece that I didn't know about - Jean Cresswell. I think Clara's younger sister Sarah got married in London as well and had children. I'm hoping an obit might help me figure that out. I would love direction on what papers to check out. Also any other tips. I think they were fairly well off. Clara and Sarah inherited money after their parent's passed away. I would also love to look for a picture of either of them in any society related publications. Would his military records include a picture? Thanks again - Cara

Hello everyone - I would love some direction in where I should start to look for obituaries for 2 family members who died in Kensington in 1948 and 1957.  I'm new to London research. Thanks so much, Cara

Thank you so much for the links and the willingness to help. They were Catholic and I think these two are them.
Bap   LOWRY   Jane   1834   Baptised, mother CADDIHY? at Manchester, St. Patrick, Livesey Street
Bap   LOWRY   John   1836   Baptised, mother NOT GIVEN at Manchester, St. Patrick, Livesey Street

I'm excited about the prospect of learning Margaret's maiden name. St. Patrick's looks to be the closet Catholic church to where they lived on Mason St. I  just emailed the Lancashire Record Office to inquire about ordering copies of these records. I do have the marriage cert for John and Margaret and I think it says Coll. Parish Church. From what I have read many people got married here even if that wasn't their normal church. Do you have any suggestions as far as ship records. I know they left Manchester for Boston in 1851 but not sure where they would of sailed out of. Also from what you found it looks like they came from Ireland to Manchester btw 1825 and 1827. Thanks, Cara

Thank you SO SO much Barbara. This is an amazing find for me. James and Margaret Lowry have been my brick wall. James is my ggg grandfather and his only son John was my gg grandfather. I have done extensive research in the US but this is my first time looking abroad. My main goal is to find out where in Ireland the Lowry's are from. I didn't know about Elizabeth and Jane. Would you have any suggestions on where I can look for birth records for the ones born in Lancashire during the 1830's? I have so many more questions to be answered now. Again thanks!!

Hello - I am looking for James and Margaret Lowry who lived on Mason St. in Manchester. Their children were Margaret b. 1825, Bridget b. 1829, Alice b. 1832 and John b. 1835. The daughter Margaret Lowry married John Holt in 1843 and he is also listed as living on Mason St on their marriage certif. They came to the US in 1851 so I don't know if they would be on that census. Thanks so much for any help - Cara
