Sussex Lookup Requests / Re: 1891 lookup - Danielsen
« on: Thursday 19 May 11 15:44 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for that.

Can you post the name of the cook from the '91 census so I can possibly trace her and the Danielsens in '81.

Many thanks,
Ian

Many thanks for all the info.

I have managed to find some census info here in Denmark (I am a resident here), but unfortunately birth records for Flensburg are not covered by Danish records - Flensburg seemed to have moved between DK and Germany over history.

Still haven't managed to find the Danielsens in 1881 - must have been mistranscripted, missed or whatever.

Cheers,
Ian

Sussex Lookup Requests / 1891 lookup - Danielsen
« on: Wednesday 11 May 11 18:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I know that a Josiah Samuel Thornton Danielsen married a Constance Parkinson in Brighton district in 1900 (FreeBMD). According to 1911 census, he was aged 52 and born in Denmark ( (RG14PN4760 RG78PN204 RD69 SD3 ED10 SN455) .

I am trying to find his roots in Denmark and it would help greatly if I knew where in Denmark he was born - maybe the 1891 census can assist? Can someone try and find him. I have looked in 1881 but without success.

Many thanks,
Ian

Lancashire / Re: How do Wilson and Mayor fit together?
« on: Wednesday 02 March 11 18:48 GMT (UK)  »
I'd also found the birth of Hugh in Longton and had also deduced that it wasn't my Hugh from looking at census info - good to have confirmation  ;)

Cannot find births for the Wilson/Mayor children  :'(

Neither can I find Hugh b.1837/8 in any census 1861 onwards - not possible deaths.

Next step is to maybe find possible marriages of Jane Wilson and see where that takes me.

Any more ideas?

Thanks,
Ian

Lancashire / How do Wilson and Mayor fit together?
« on: Wednesday 02 March 11 18:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Can someone help me in piecing together a family of Mayors and Wilsons?

I have the birth of Mary Wilson:
Baptisms: 17 Sep 1809 St Andrews, Leyland, Lancashire, England
Mary Wilson - Daughter of Hugh Wilson & Jennet
    Abode: Longton
    Register: Baptisms 1804 - 1812, Page 28, Entry 45
    Source: LDS Film 93951

In 1841 she was with her presumed parents:
1841
Dole Lane, Chorley
Hugh Wilson, 65, labourer
Jane Wilson, 60
Mary Wilson, 30, weaver
Jane Wilson, 9
Ann Wilson, 9
Hugh Wilson, 4
source: HO107/525/7

In 1851 - start to get mysterious:
Astley St., Chorley
Hugh Wilson, head, married, 76, b. Rufford
Jane Wilson, wife, 73, b. Rufford
Mary Mayor, dau, widow, 43, handloom weaver, b. Longton
Ann Mayor, grand-dau, 19, b. Hutton
Jane Wilson, grand-dau, 19, reeler cotton, b. Hutton
Hugh Mayor, grandson, 13, b. Hutton
source:HO107/2263/p54

I cannot find marriage of a Mayor to Mary Wilson, and why does it appear that her children are named Mayor and Wilson - or are they not all hers?

Then in 1861:
1861
Dale lane, Chorley
Hugh Wilson, head, 90, b. Rufford
Mary Wilson, dau, unmarried, 53, cotton weaver, b. Longton
Ann Wilson, dau, unmarried, 29, washerwoman, b. Hutton
Thomas Wilson, grandson, 9, scholar, b. Chorley (illegitimate son of Ann)
source:RG9/3119/p39

I have both Ann, Thomas and Mary in later census' - no further evidence of Mayor/Wilson link. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks,
Ian

Unfortunately no more info on original photos. Here is what is hopefully a better image:

These are the images I received from the person in Canada to whom they belong. I will revert to him and ask for more details as you have requested.

Could someone possibly date the couple. He was born in 1857, she in 1856. They move from Lancashire to Canada c.1910 (??). Photos taken by Williams of Southport, Lancashire (close to where they lived prior to emigrating).

Many thanks,
Ian
