Derry (Londonderry) / Duddy Records in Derry
« on: Friday 22 July 11 06:41 BST (UK)  »
I saw your entry regarding records for Duddy. I am looking to find records for James Duddy in Derry. I was told he was from Dungiven or Limavady area. He was born @ 1831. He is listed on the Griffth's Valuation in Killynaught, Tyrone in 1858 under the name Dudye. He married Catherine McFaddin and they had at least 8 children, Elizabeth (1860), John (1861), Mary (1864), Bridget (1866), Sarah (1868), James (1870), Jane(1872), & Catherine (1874).
I found a baptismal entry from 1826 for a James Dudley of Ardground, parents John Dudley & Elizabeth McClosky but I don't know if that is him. A later entry in 1830 for a Thomas lists the parents as John Duddy & Betty McCosky of Kilday and in 1833 there is an entry for Elizabeth Ann for John Duddy and Eliza McClosky. The source was "Register of Baptisms in Parish of Lower Cumber, Londonderry"
The names seem to fit but I am not sure since I don't have any other confirmation that it his him. Can you give me any ideas on how to find additional records that might corroborate these entries?

I have seen your postings regarding the Globe Cemetery and you mentioned that the Motherwell Heritage centre has the records on CD. Do you know if the CD is available for sale?
I have several family members how are buried in the Globe but have been unable to get information on them. I have names, death dates and burial lair #s for some but not all. I also have family buried in Airbles Cemetery. I was born in Motherwell but now live in the US so don't have access to the Heritage Centre. Would you be willing to do look ups if the CD is not for sale?
