Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: James Knight B1871-D1891

Have now checked 1881 and does seem to fit, however I still need to trace and obtain his birtch certificate to prove mothers name, and I am not really sure about the 3/4 year difference between Census & Certificates I have.

I have checked births from 1867 to 1873 only 4 James' total in Leicestershire

There are only 2 James' in 1871 (Sep Ashby Zouch 7a 88 and Dec Leicester 7a 197) both rejected by GRO and they don't match fathers name.

1 other Sep Q 1869 Ashby (7a 97)
1 other Sep Q 1867 Market Bosworth (7a 62)

Not sure where to look now - any ideas anyone

Mike

I have seen this one, which I put to one side probably as I was looking for James aged 10 & also

1871 Census RG10/3275 Page 21 ~ 22 also has his age 4, so neither matched what I was looking for.

This does look very promising though as burial date is only 3 days after death (09/12/1891) and he was married in Thurlaston 26/11/1891.

I feel my luck may have turned on this one as the Aggregate Co have rang me today and promised to look at their archives too so fingers crossed.

Any help is much appreciated
Thanks

No not made easy at all on this one.

The 2 No. Certificates I requested  Dec Q 1871 in Leicesterhsire (7a 197 & 7a 88) both father not named William.

I thought if I can either get the inquest report that might help, so if Leicester Records Office not got it - where is it?  They said they have 1891, but not this one even with date and name of corroner details (from Death Certificate)

or maybe if can find a burial for him.  I have briefly looked in Narborough & Thurlaston but drawn a blank so far.

Thanks for everyones comments - I will need to look at the fishmonger William in more detail but something doesn't feel right about it!!

Yes he was accidently crushed by wagons under archway at Croft Stone Quarry,  I believe he worked as a Stone Quarrier.

Incidentally I have driven past the quarry almost daily for 10-years now

Witnesses to the marriage were Albert Chamberlain (Amelia's brother) and the mark of Sarah Davis ??

As James was 20 when he married in November and 21 when he died in December, I assumed he was born DecQ ish 1871, so born after 1871 Census

No I have checked this one and ruled it out, they are on 1881 Census with parents John (not William) & Mary

I am havng difficulty tracing birth cert for my gt grandad. He married Amelia Chamberlain in Thurlaston, Leicester 26/11/1891 Age 20 - Father William (Salesman).  He died accidentally 09/12/1891 Age 21 at Croft Stone Quarry. (My grandma  Annie Elizabeth born July 1892)  Leicestershire Record Office have not got inquest report. Aggregate Co not responded as yet.

The only 2 x James Knight born in Leicestershire 1871 I have found were rejected by GRO 'father not named William' A Jim Knight (10years) on 1881 census father not William either.

I'm thinking maybe he was not born in Leicestershire area as his father was a salesman, but don't know where to look now as there are loads. Maybe the local newspaper report for his death (but doubt his birth info will be included)

Any ideas/hel would be very appreciated.

N.B  This is my very first message so forgive my ranting on
