thanks for the interest sons name was probably Jimmy [ James ] nickname was Timber reported as the uncle of William Wood 1903-1980.I have his story but no father [ Illegit ]
Timber Wood's ] family was still living in 1978, though he had died by then, & his son Douglas worked for Glaxo Laboratories
are there any electoral rolls/ phone books for the 1970's for Montrose
was there a Co-Op in the High St
I have very little else to go on & the facts are hazy to say the least.

My G Grandfather James was a witness at the marriage of Mary Ann Edge [ born Gibraltar 1868 ] to a T Stubbs /Stobbs in about 1895-1900 at Sheffield Parish Church. I can find no records that match. Is it possible to look in the actual Church records. Ron

Hi everyone thanks for the interest & in view of various comments here is some more info
Yes He is William Wood B july 1903 Montrose ex RAF arrived Fremantle SS Berrima in 1927 Aug 15th contact at D McLennan Trayning [ town in WA ] Arrived back in London on the ORONSAY on AUG 29 1930.  Photo in question has the date recorded on rear as JULY 27 1930 so if date correct must be in Australia.   He was single when he left RAF yet was a widower when he married in 1935 in Arbroath, thus the second query about Perth marriages.  Maybe the girl was a previous daughter of the first wife. There is no knowledge of this marriage ? in any family knowledge. This mystery will probably will never be solved  RON
This new photo was also supposed to be in Perth WA William is rear second left Who are the others is unknown
