Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: Luther HORSFALL 1861 Halifax

As CaroleW said, the original birth index clearly says Luther Melanchton Horsfall. Are we suffering from dodgy transcriptions? Has anyone seen the original census forms?

Hi,
Luther's occupation will be that of a 'doffer', who removed the full bobbins from ring spinning frames.
Going just by the index, he appears in every census, in 1911 he is Luther Melanethan Horsfall.

Hi,
Is your Chemist Lane in Rotherham? If that's the one, it's near Charlie Brown's Autocentre.
Just go to Google maps and type in Chemist Lane. Only one result, hope it's yours.

Hi,
You could try the West Yorkshire Archive Service at the Central Library, Huddersfield.

Hi,
It's a Coronation class pacific of the L.M.S. Often known as 'Duchesses' as scouseboy's post suggests. The streamlined casing was later removed.

Hi,
' Microsoft Security Essentials' works for me. It's free, and regularly updates itself.

Lancashire / Re: NELLIE NEWTON c. 1902 in Levenshulme

I think we have to be careful with this, living people may be involved. If you go onto FreeBMD, select BIRTHS,  surname=SUTCLIFFE, mothers maiden name=NEWTON and then FIND, we get these after 1931.

Stockport 1936
Wetherby 1946
Leeds 1947
