Viktoria, I watched the same programme, and was also shouting "Not cotton!" - some ag labs' smocks were even more substantial than linen, being worsted, too! And the "unique" bit drives us made, as well.
We're both sticking with masks, rather fond of being alive, don't wish to risk it. Haven't risked public transport yet, though.

I do hope that there's no connection, mowsehouse, but I hear that a large slab of cliff face in the Lime Regis / Jurassic Coast area has collapsed!! Love Lyme Regis, not been there for ages, delightful museum there.
Boring week so far, heavyweight gardening - demolishing and re-organising an area - at least it's not raining.

Totally fed up of what feels like two days of continuous rain keeping us out of back garden, and weeding and some essential redesign jobs there.
Fortunately nothing else to complain of as we're both still well. Just frustrated.

Moving this to the "West Riding" Yorkshire area may be quite productive?

Seem completely to have missed this week - probably because it's been far too hot for me most of the time. Surfacing at last now it's a bit cooler - even did a bit of most essential ironing, but not more than that.
Really not wanted to ease up on things like distancing or masks, and certainly no wish to go cavorting in enclosed spaces. Oh dear, the world is still mad.

Wigan has a good family history centre - and there's a site called "Wiganworld", free to join, and that has some people on there who are quite expert at ferreting out facts, including in the Westhoughton area - they helped us a year or so back. Could be worth asking on there? Hope your search goes well.

Like many of the rest of you, I feel so sorry for poor Roobarb, and for all you others who have had terrible news and events to cope with recently. I wish you all comfort, peace of mind and loving support where and when you need it.
I have diligently shopped alone right from the start of all this hoo-haa, kept my asthmatic husband in the car, allowed to drive but not to emerge from it, worn mask and gloves, sanitised everywhere, and I have ABSOLUTELY NO CONFIDENCE in "Freedom"!! I thought they were barmy weeks back, and I'm totally certain now! It's so certain it'll all continue to spread and intensify......
What on earth can we do in face of all the stupid, stupid decisions and behaviour??
I think I'll plant a huge and thorny hedge around our house, and stay there!

The Lighter Side / Re: The Cissie name ?

My grandma was known by all as "Cissie" - she was the eldest sister in quite a long family. She was really called Annie Elizabeth, but no-one ever used that.

She was, I suppose, really "Sissie" (i.e., "Sister")
