Looking for a McMahon family who lived in Killaloe in 1950 They were listed among the mourners as cousins who attended the funeral of Julia Bury nee McMahon who died in Feb 1950 and was buried in the family burial place Templekelly Ballina Tipp. Julia was the daughter of Patrick McMahon (1860-1928) and Julia Gleeson (1856-1946) and was born in William St Nenagh in 1900.  Would be very grateful for  help in tracing these McMahon cousins.

Clare / McMahon/Gleeson Marriage abt 1882 Scarriff
« on: Wednesday 19 October 16 14:53 BST (UK)  »
Help needed as I'm trying to find the names of the fathers of Patrick McMahon and Julia Gleeson who I believe were married about 1882 in Scarriff Clare.  On the 1901 census they are living in William Street Nenagh Tipp but place of birth for Patrick and Julia is given as Clare.  They had 10 children and the births of the first 4 were registered in Scarriff - Catherine 1883, William 1885, Mary 1887 and Margaret 1889.  The family were living in Killaloe Clare then moved to Ballina Tipp about 1890. Also on the 1901 census they say that the children were all born in Tipperary which is true for the last 6 children as 2 were born in Ballina and 4 in Nenagh  There is no record of the marriage on the Civil Registration list or on IrishGenealogy.ie  Many thanks

Hertfordshire / Ruby Atkinson Garston Watford
« on: Monday 10 August 15 21:18 BST (UK)  »
Trying to trace Ruby Atkinson of 12 Severn Way Garston Watford and later of 29 Kelly Close Borehamwood.  We knew her as my father's aunt but I'm not sure if she was related or just a family friend. I know that she lived in Watford from around 1925 to 1945.  I was born in 1951 and have no memory of her.  My mother first met her in 1940 and described her as an old lady then so I presume that she passed away many years ago.  No other relatives were mentioned in relation to her so she may have been a spinster or childless widow.  No sure if Ruby was her birth name or a family nickname.  I've searched Ancestry and Family Search but cannot find a match so am hoping someone recognises her as a family member.  My father was born in 1903 in Aspley Guise Beds so Ruby may have been born there and be related to the Billington family.

Tipperary / Missing Record on Civil Registration of Deaths
« on: Saturday 08 August 15 00:25 BST (UK)  »
The Nenagh Guardian reported that Edward Barrett (58) died on Sunday 30th August 1936 in Nenagh District Hospital as a result of extensive head injuries caused by a motor collision.  There was an inquest into his death but there is no record for him on the Ireland Civil Registration of Deaths.  How do I go about obtaining a death certificate if his death was not registered?

Tipperary / Templehollow Cemetery Ballina Tipperary
« on: Saturday 08 August 15 00:12 BST (UK)  »
In Ballina there is a cemetery near the church of Our Lady and St Lua.  I believe that is it called Templehollow or Templekelly.  I'm looking for a copy of the burial register in order to locate the graves of my Barrett and McMahon relatives.  Does such a list exist online.  Many thanks

Tipperary / Irish Newspaper Archives
« on: Sunday 26 July 15 16:07 BST (UK)  »
I believe that all members of the Library in the ROI have free access to the online Irish newspaper archives.  If anyone reading this is a member then I would be very grateful for any articles published regarding the death of my grandfather Edward Barrett in Nenagh in August 1936.  He was the victim of a hit & run lorry driver on the Gortlandroe Rd.  There was an inquest into his death and the outcome of that may also have been published in the Nenagh Guardian.  Many thanks in anticipation.

Tipperary / WW1 regiments
« on: Friday 24 July 15 16:44 BST (UK)  »
I want to search for my grandfather's war record but need to know what regiment men from Nenagh were enlisted in during WW1.  I presume that as Ireland was part of the UK in 1914 that Irish men were required to join up.  Many thanks
