Family History Beginners Board / Looking for 2 Great Aunts
« on: Friday 23 July 10 19:06 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying to find 2 of my Greataunts 2 sisters.

Mary Hagan born 1855 in Birmingham uk
Catherine ( Kate) Hagan born 1864 in Birmingham
There was also a sister Sarah born abt 1858 but i have found her
married to Henry Sheppard.

Mary was on the 1861 Census with parents Mary and Martin Hagan
Father Martin Hagan died in 1866 and Mother Mary married again to
James Freilly.
On the 1871 Census Their was mother Mary and Stepfather James but Freilly
was spelt Fernly and the children Mary and Catherine took the Fernly name.
After 1871 i can`t find children Mary or Catherine on any Census nor any
marriages.

I found parents on the 1881 census ,mother Mary on her own in 1891 living
with Sarah and her husband Henry Sheppard, but no sign of Mary or Catherine.

If any one can help me find Mary and Catherine i would be very grateful.

Thankyou
Carol

Family History Beginners Board / Tracing William Gorman
« on: Saturday 03 July 10 14:37 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find information on a William Gorman born abt 1873.
He married Elsie Rivers in 1916 in Birmingham uk.
Nothing is known about William.
I found him on the 1911 Census living at a Salvation Army Working mens
home  in Ryder Street,Birmingham.
It says William was born in St.Pancras,London.
William`s father was also called William a saddle maker.
I thought i had found him in 1891 in St.Pancras with a brother George
and living with his Grandmother Jane.
I sent for a marriage in 1894 of George but his father was Charles.
So wrong ones.
If anyone can help me i would be very grateful.

The Common Room / Lost Catherine and Mary Hagan
« on: Saturday 02 January 10 15:02 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find my 2 Greataunts Mary Hagan born 1855 and Catherine Hagan
born 1864 in Birmingham uk.
Mary was on the 1861 Census with father martin Hagan born abt 1827 and
mother Mary born abt 1833 both born in Ireland and another sister Sarah born 1858.
Martin died in 1866  so the mother married again in 1867 to James Frehelly
born abt 1846 in Ireland.
In the 1871 census the children had took the Frehelly name, but was mispelt
as Fernly.
After that no trace of Mary and Catherine ( Kate ) i found the other sister
Sarah married to Henry Sheppard( Shepherd) on the 1881 Census.
Also James and Mary on the 1881.
No sign of Mary or Catherine on any census`s or marriages.
So what happened to them.
I would be grateful for any help, hope it is not to complicated.
Their are different variations of the spelling of Hagan,Egan,Eagan,Agin.
Thankyou
