I am researching brick makers in Fletton, Huntingdonshire and wondered how the grades worked ie: labourers, brick burners etc. Would there be any career progression? or were all elements the same?

The Common Room / Occupation
« on: Tuesday 06 September 16 14:41 BST (UK)  »
I have listed on the 1861 census a 17 year old unmarried girl. She is recorded as being head of household and with he ris a lodger and the lodger's child. However in the occupation title it states 'unfortunate'. Is this a referral to her situation by the enumerator or a genuine occupation?

Hi

An individual I am researching Ernest Colman from Peterborough was a conscientious objector. In the local paper it is reported that he was handed over to the military authorities. I have his war records but where might the trial details be?

Hi

I am the churchwarden of St Margarets Fletton and to commemorate the centenary of the start of WW1 we are compiling an archive of how the war affected the parish and the men who served who had a connection with the parish. If you have information that you would be willing to share I would be grateful to hear from you.

Armed Forces / Conflict 1890
« on: Tuesday 17 July 12 19:23 BST (UK)  »
I am tracing an Edward Elgie Page aged 22 who was murdered in Afganistan March 10th 1890 while serving in her Majestys Royal Marines. These details were listed on the memorial in the Fletton church, Peterborough.

I would like to know what conflict this would be and where I might find details of the regiment involved?

I am unable to contact the services as I am not a direct family member.

Thankyou

Hi

I am currently doing research for a Phd into migration into Fletton 1841 to 1901.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone whoose family moved into the area during that time.

I would also be very interested to hear from anyone whoose ancestors have connections with the railway or brickyards.

I am particularly interested to see old photos of people or places.

Acknowledgement will be made in the finished thesis.

Thankyou all so much.

Sadie :)

Huntingdonshire / Methodist
« on: Monday 14 March 11 13:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

If you follow the Methodist tradition then where would you be buried in the local C of E church or in a cemetary?

My aunt Jean Robinett died at age 5 days in Orton Longueville and her family were methodists. I am trying to find out where she would have been buried?

Thankyou
Sadie
