« on: Saturday 24 December 05 16:21 GMT (UK)  »
If anyone has access to 1841 Northampton (Sudborough), grateful if you'd let me know whether there is any sign of the following:

Edward and Ann Rowe, Row or Roe
Charlotte Rowe, Row or Roe
John Rowe, Row or Roe
Samuel Rowe, Row or Roe

The couple are husband and wife, the 3 individual names, possibly their children.  Trying to find out if there were any other children and approx. ages.

Thanks.

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / 1841/1851 - GILSON (Holcombe area)
« on: Tuesday 12 July 05 09:57 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I'm currently working on the top end of my Gilson/Heal tree and am trying to find parents or siblings for Charles Gilson (born c1830/31 in Holcombe, Somerset).  He is shown as married to Matilda Heal(Hale) on 1861 and their eldest child, Temperance Sarah is born in Wales in 1854 - their other children are all born in Somerset.  Unfortunately I cannot find a marriage registration for Charles and Matilda, so am unable to find father's name for Charles.  Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

If anyone is checking up the 1841 or 1851 Warminster census, grateful if you'd be kind enough to see if there is any trace of a Sarah Plumley born c1834.

Thank you.

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / 1861 Census - HALE
« on: Friday 15 April 05 18:35 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out the parents of my gt-gt grandmother and think finding if she is living with them in Somerset on the 1861 census might be the answer!!

She is Ellen Hale, born c 1841 in either Kilmersden or Holcombe (according to later censuses), and marries George William Robbins in Shepton Mallett in April 1862.  She and George are down as resident in Holcombe on their marriage certificate.  Ellen's father is Francis Hale.

Grateful if some kind person would look to see whether there is a Francis Hale in the Holcombe area in 1861 ... and if Ellen (or Helen - as she appears on some censuses) is with him.

Thanks

Surrey Completed Look up Requests / 1841/1851 - MILLWOOD - Newington, Surrey
« on: Saturday 02 April 05 22:01 BST (UK)  »
Looking for Mary Millwood (widow) born approx 1778, Colchester Essex.  Have found 5 sons for her and her husband (who died in 1838): William - 1811, John - 1814, Henry - 1817, Frederick - 1819 and Charles - 1821.  Trying to find out if they also had a James ... or any other children!

I have her living at 15 Camden St, Walworth on newly released 1861 census on 1837online.

Can anyone help with her/her family's whereabouts on 1841 and 1851?

Thanks

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / 1841/1851/1861 - HOLE/PLUMLEY
« on: Saturday 26 February 05 13:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I am tracing up my mother's family line and hit a small brick wall with my gt-grandmother's parents.  Emily Plumley's mother, Sarah, died in January 1870 aged 36 years, in Shepton Mallet.  On her death certificate she is described as the "widow of William Plumley, ag lab".  Until receiving this, I'd believed her to be unmarried, as no father is listed on her younger daughter's birth cert.  The only marriage I can find for William Plumley and a Sarah is to Sarah Hole in October 1848 - his father is Samuel Plumley, hers Edward Hole.  The marriage takes place in North Wootton, Wells - which I believe is not that far from Shepton Mallet, so it seems likely that this is correct.  I have now sent for the certificate to check ages, etc,

Grateful if some kind person would look at 1841 for Sarah Hole with father Edward - likely to be around 6 years old; and William Plumley with father Samuel - no idea of age.  I am currently making the assumption that they would have haled from the North Wootton/Wells area.

Would also be grateful for look-ups on 1851 and 1861 for William and Sarah Plumley - trying to find out if they had any other children - as my gt-grandmother and her sister were not born until 1863/1864, and their names (Emily and Anne) don't appear to fit the usual pattern of naming children after parents, etc.

Any help at all will be much appreciated, as I'm not sure how to get over this hurdle!

Thank you in advance.

Sussex Completed Lookup Requests / 1841 -1861 - Richard BRAY in Brighton
« on: Friday 11 February 05 21:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I'm trying to track down information relating to the family of Richard Bray (born in Brighton c1820) prior to 1871.  We believe that he married Sarah Ann Spicer (born c1813) in 1838 and have found five children for the couple (William c1842, Elizabeth c1844, Henry c1848, Fanny c1851, Anne c1855 - all born in Brighton).  On the 1871 census Sarah is a widow living with 3 of their children at 27 Cavendish St, Brighton.

If possible, would anyone be able to help with look-ups for this family on the 1841, 1851 and 1861 censuses to see if Richard is with them ... just trying to work out when he died!?

Many thanks.

Su :)

Glamorganshire / Sidney Patterson - Bedwellty/Cardiff 1930s
« on: Wednesday 09 February 05 23:32 GMT (UK)  »
My mother (born 1928) believes that her father was a butcher in Bedwellty and/or Cardiff - he left my grandmother in the 1930s, ostensibly to return to Australia - I certainly can't find any evidence of him having died in the UK.  Does anyone know where I'd find information re: tradesmen such as butchers in 1930s Bedwellty/Cardiff?

Thanks.

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Look-ups 1841/51/61 - PLUMLEY
« on: Wednesday 09 February 05 23:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

My great-grandmother is named on her marriage certificate as Emily Jane Plumley, father William Plumley, age "full".  From 1881, 1891 and 1901 censuses, I gauged her year of birth to be approx 1862/1863 and place of birth to be Shepton Mallet.  When I looked for a birth certificate for her, the only Emily Plumley I could find was born 1860 - father William, so I incorrectly assumed that this was my Emily.

When the 1871 census went online, I found there were 2 Emily Plumleys and that the certificate I had found was not for mine!  However, my Emily had a sister Anne - she was born 1864 and I found her birth certificate and sent for it.  This shows Anne's mother as Sarah Plumley, but no father is listed.  I'm not sure if the reason I can't find Emily's certificate is that she was registered in her father's name - or whether Sarah was married to a William Plumley but Anne was not his child.

I have found that Sarah Plumley died in the Shepton Mallet area in the Jan - Mar period of 1870 age 36 years, so would have been approx 37 in 1871 and would have been born approx 1834.

Sorry this is longwinded, but would someone please look to see if they can find a Sarah Plumley age approx 27 in the 1861 Shepton Mallet, approx 17 in 1851 Shepton Mallet, approx 7 in 1841 .... trying to find out if Plumley was her maiden name.

Thank you.
