Hi Listers,
I wonder if anyone recognises the building in the attached photograph. I guess is was taken in the early 1900's, almost certainly in the Fillongley / Corley area.

The Common Room / Workhouse registers
« on: Wednesday 15 July 15 06:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I have been looking at the registers relating to the workhouse in Greenwich and several entries relating to my Great Grandmother in the Admissions Register have "mother Alice s/a" in the "Calling" column. I can't work out what "s/a" means. I'm sure it is just my lazy brain. She is widowed at this time and the time frame is early 1900s.
Can anyone help please.

Staffordshire / Occupation on 1851 census
« on: Sunday 08 June 14 06:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi Listsers,
I'm hoping that one of you keen-eyed folks can help me decipher this occupation on the 1851 census. The family were living at Sandon. Dad was a farmer of 22 acres but two of the children had this occupation, a 19 year old boy and a 17 year old girl. It is obviously 'something at home' but I can't work it out.
Any help appreciated.

Buckinghamshire / Marriage of Robert MARKHAM & Isabella c1765
« on: Saturday 25 June 11 06:31 BST (UK)  »
Listers,

I am trying to find the marriage of Robert Markham (born Oving) who marries an Isabella (reportedly born Weedon but I have not seen a record) probably 1765/6. Their death and burial records show he was born c1723 and she was born c1733. They had a clutch of children at Weedon starting in 1766.

Any help in tracking down their marriage greatly appreciated.

Regards
Peter

I wonder if anyone has access to something other than the transcription from the KFHS for Tenterden. I am interested in the marriage of Richard MARTIN to Sarah ROBARDES on 6 May 1610. I am trying to discover the name of Richard's father.

Thanks

Grateful if SKS with access to Wittersham PRs could let me know what information is available for the marriage of James NOAKES & Sarah DENGATE at Wittersham on 27 May 1783. I'm really hopng to discover that James came from Lamberhurst but any information, perhaps witnesses, would be very helpful.
Thanks

Warwickshire / Unreadable note on Marriage cert Corley
« on: Thursday 03 March 11 07:43 GMT (UK)  »
Fellow listers,
I have just received a marriage cert with an attached note concerning debate about the brides age. I have the gist of it but would welcome someone with more knowledge/better eyes/more imagination taking a look to see if they can translate it word for word.
Many thanks
Peter
