New Zealand Completed Requests / Stephen William Holder in New Plymouth
« on: Saturday 27 March 21 07:39 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find  family of Stephen Holder who died 10th March 1978 and cremated and buried in the
Te Henui cemetery , New Plymouth .
Stephen flew the Lancaster bombers over Germany in WW2 and my Father inlaw  John (Jack)  Nicholls  was navigator on the same plane   they did quite a few missions together. Stephen was good mates with my father inlaw and when my husband was born Stephen known as Steve was made his god father .
He would love to find the  family of this man  to share photos with the family and  chat about   their missions  they did together..
My father inlaw did his training in Canada before being based in the UK and we presume Stephen did the same
if anyone can help with this  we would be really grateful.

Staffordshire / WILLIAM SALT LIBRARY STAFFORD
« on: Saturday 20 April 19 20:51 BST (UK)  »
any one going to the William Salt Library at any stage.?  wanting to see if any more info given on plot numbers in the Ipstones Churchyard . I seem to be going round in circles
with the Stafford council on this info . I am looking for two plot numbers  for two graves there . if anyone is visiting there  can they let me know and   I can give the info . I would like to see these graves when I visit the Uk again  . I am not expecting to find headstones for this couple but just if I can locate the actual spot in the churchyard. The minister of the church has been most helpful searching  but said all records are at the council now told at the Library . This amazes me in our country you can go on line and find these things yourself and give a plot number . so so frustrating  ??? any help would be much appreciated
 Happy Easter everyone .

Staffordshire / Old Leek news papers.
« on: Thursday 25 May 17 09:25 BST (UK)  »
can anyone tell me if the Leek news paper would of been around in 1815-1816.Or some other sort of news paper
If not where I would get a copy of one.
I am after a story about a Hannah Birch age 4  from Ipstones  who was playing by the fire christmas morning and her nightwear caught fire and she died as a result of her burns .
There was an inquest at the Foxt pub and it was ruled an accident .
I have Hannahs birth but can not find a death certificate . How long after an inquest would they publish one? . I would think this story would of been published after christmas due to holidays but maybe wrong so thought if there was a paper it would be  in  January  1815 even a death notice.

if anyone can help with this it would very much appreciated .

Hampshire & Isle of Wight / looking for an obituary 1942
« on: Monday 08 May 17 04:27 BST (UK)  »
is anyone able to look up an old News paper for an obituary for Dec 1942 . do not know the exact day
I am now down to my last straw to try and find where my grandmother was buried. All I can get is Dec 1942 in the Droxford area it is for a Mary E Limming  wife of John .
I have done cemetery checks to no avail.  So I am hoping that an obituary in a paper if there is one can tell me where she is buried.
She was married before under Birch and thought she may  of been put with her first husband in the Milton cemetery in Portsmouth but have made enquires and not there so has to be somewhere in Hampshire .
Fingers crossed at long last  I may  find her. ???

World War One / does someone know the identity of this soldier in WW1
« on: Saturday 03 September 16 05:55 BST (UK)  »
does some one know the soldier  sitting in this photo with my Father.
it was taken during WW1 and on the back it says .
To Mother .
Taken in France with friend  your loving son Frederic. 1918
I am hoping someone may know this fine young man as it would be nice for the family to have a copy of  this photo .
My Father served in The NZ Expeditionary Force    on the Western Front from 1916 to the end of the war and have been told the man sitting is not a NZ soldiers he is British. When I enquired how they knew this was told by the good quality of his boots he is wearing .
Must admit they are lot better than my father has on .
Hope some one can help .
