Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Completed OWEN, kenneth Cedric - Death
« on: Friday 25 July 14 01:59 BST (UK)  »
I just received the death certificate for Kenneth Cedric OWEN (B:1 Feb 1931  D: 16 Apr 1949) who died Nottingham and lived at 43 Kings Meadow Road.  The informant, his father is listed as W.G. OWEN of 43 Kings Meadow Road, Nottingham.  If I have the correct person, his mother should be Florence OWEN (Nee KELLY) and his brother would be Ronald George OWEN (B: 1928) and possible (not conformed) two other sibling - Pauline (B: 1943) and Reginald (B: 1939).  Would there be an obituary that would tie Kenneth Cedric to Florence OWEN (Nee KELLY) or to his brother Ronald George to confirm that I have the correct person.  Any help in connecting these individuals greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Nottinghamshire / OWEN, Florence (Nee KELLY)
« on: Sunday 06 July 14 16:00 BST (UK)  »
Looking for a lost Kelly family member.  Florence KELLY (B: 28 Sep 1904) married William George OWEN (B: 26 Mar 1905) on 18 Dec 1926 at Birkenhead.  Last contact with Florence was in the 1930s.  Two sons, both born Birkenhead, Ronald George OWEN (B: 1928) and Kenneth Cedric OWEN (B: 1931).   Other family siblings of Florence, all born Liverpool are deceased - Alfred James KELLY (1905 - 1970), Norman KELLY (B: 1907 - 1967) and William KELLY ( 1909 - 1980).  William KELLY, my father, came to Canada in 1925 via the Liverpool Sheltering Home (i.e.: Barnardo's).  Believe (not confirmed) that Florence may have died Nottingham district (Sep - 3c 300) in 1960  at age 55 and William George OWEN (Sep - 3c 251) may have died in 1967 at age 62.  Possible son Kenneth C. OWEN may have died in 1949 (Jun - 3c 231) at age 18.  Any help connecting or information on these three deaths greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Devon / JENKINS, George
« on: Friday 28 June 13 14:17 BST (UK)  »
George Jenkins came to Canada on the Minnedosa on the 27 March 1926.   Shipping records indicate hat he was born Plymouth and was age 17 (in 1926).  He was brought to Canada under BICA to do farm work at Kinburn Ontario.  Through his association with my family indicates that he was born in Cornwall and in 1909.  A possible birth in Cornwall Bodmin in 1909 in FREEBMD.  As a youth he was connected to a maritime training vessel, but unsure if that was with the RN or merchant ships.  His tomb stone indicates a birth of 1909 (died in 2002).  The names of his parents are unknown but it is believed his sister (name unknown) lived in Northern Ireland.    There is one relative, also George Jenkins, in Canada, probably in Ontario.   Any help or info greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Lancashire / Divorce - 1925 - 1950
« on: Thursday 12 July 12 18:10 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone advise as to how common divorce occurred in England (i.e.: Liverpool Lancashire) between the mid 1920s and 1950s.  I have a relative that may have (unconfirmed) left/deserted his family for another.  Would he have gotten a divorce and if so can this information be found.  I assume, because he would have been a working man and not rich, that he would have just left his first family.   How common was it for unmarried people to live together during this period?

Thank you.
