Anyone know of a good discount on 23 and me? Or is there a time of year when they routinely discount their test?

I have already done Ancestry, and uploaded to other sites and also Y dna with family tree dna

Census and Resource Discussion / GRO index problem
« on: Monday 07 February 22 12:04 GMT (UK)  »
I have an entry which is show in the old style typed indexes, but not in the new GRO indexes.

I am pretty sure it must be correct
The entry is John A Pullen born Jun qtr 1922 in Croydon

I ordered this from GRO knowing it might not come.

Sure enough it could not be found.

One one birth of Pullen with Mn of Ruddle shows up

There were apparently two children of this marriage ( per my aunt , and the other is in the 1921 Census but apparently not registered)

William Henry Pullen married Maragaret Fisher nee Ruddle in Jan qua ter 1917. She had been widowed in WW1.

I will count his birth in my tree but it is frustrating not to able to trace him in 1939 as I have no birth date.

The Common Room / People who don’t appear in the GRO indexes
« on: Sunday 30 January 22 22:17 GMT (UK)  »
I guess many of us might have a few of these

My First is Elizabeth Boyce Donaldson, nee Douglas
According to a note in a family book, she died 18/9/1867

This is more or less confirmed by her burial at Linch, Sussex on 24 th September, record suggests she died at Woolbeding. She had been living at Hucksholt Farm on the Uppark Estate
No record of her death on the old or new GRO indexes.

I recently discovered another
Winifred Pullen, born 1.5.1921 according to 1939 register at Windsor according to 1921 census.
A tragic case and there could have been too much going on to register the child.
Mother widowed in WW1 , remarried and 2nd husband just into care for mental problems related to epilepsy, from where he never emerged until his death in 1950
I am sure I have more but these two stand out

« on: Saturday 04 December 21 11:48 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking at a number of (early) parish records.
E.g. John Cock oppd Innholder
I think it means of this parish or town but would like to know exactly what it means

I was googling this morning and came across this chest that belonged to my ancestor Rev George Boyce

A bit pricey though

My late grandmother’s cousin William Abraham Holmes. He was a private in the Welsh Regiment.
Apparently buried in Gaza Cemetery. And what’s worse is ther is still bloodshed there
