Occupation Interests / Bracemaker

In several Immigration records I have seen Bracemaker as occupation of women. Wikkipedia doesnt recognise the word. I have double-checked, it's not Lace maker. I wonder if it is something to do with ladies undergarments?

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / strange words

I was asked to transcribe a lease document from 1743 and there are a few words causing difficulty. It is written in secretary script on calfskin.
The word I am stumped with is 'barfside'. I have an idea it might have something to do with mining. The area is Halling near Rochester.
Any suggestions?

Looking for any connection to a Walter Peterson Gray born aboy 1870 plus. I remember family mention Berwick or North Berwick. There is a census record for the same name bu territory Midlothian. I am from South Africa...wher is Mislothian?
