« on: Saturday 17 March 18 01:40 GMT (UK)  »
Robert John Sharpe was born in Bushmills County Antrim Northern Ireland in 1891
The son of Robert & Maggie Sharpe
He went to Canada on the ss Doric in  1923 arriving in Winnipeg August/September 1923
He was single and he stated on the Form 30 A and that he intended to undertake harvest work
I cannot find him coming back to the Uk
His brother Samuel went London Ontario in 1926 married and had a family he was not a witness at the wedding nor does he appear in any of the family obituaries
I have been unable to find any further information
Can anyone help
I did try a few years ago without success
Many thanks

Herefordshire / John DOWNES baptised 22nd September 1805 Mordiford
« on: Monday 16 October 17 16:09 BST (UK)  »
John was the son of John Downes and Sarah Parry
Between 1805 and 1811 the family moved to Cheltenham from Mordiford and remained there until John Downes senior died on 4th February 1859
In his will he left something to each of his 7 children but John (born 1805) is not mentioned
I am therefore assuming that John the son died between 1805 And 1859 can anybody help me prove it?
Many thanks

Kent / EVANS family Lewisham
« on: Friday 13 October 17 17:18 BST (UK)  »
Good afternoon
I have two requests if anyone can help
1) Thomas Evans born 1859 baptised St Mary's Lewisham  20th March 1870
Anna (possibly Hannah) Evans born 1867 baptised St Mary's Lewisham 13th March 1870
It seems odd that they were baptised one week apart could one be an error
Parents were William & Caroline Evans
Does anyone have access to the registers ?
2) Their father William Evans seems to have died in the March quarter of 1870
Could the children have been baptised just before he died ?
Have I got the correct William Evans?
Again could anyone access the registers
Many thanks

World War One / Can anyone solve the connection?
« on: Thursday 27 April 17 20:11 BST (UK)  »
I recently purchased some medals at auction
consisting of
Henry Scott 17451 11th battalion border regiment...the Lonsdales survived the war but wounded ( lived in Workington Cumbria)
Percy Hodgson 13771 West Riding Regiment died of wounds ( lived in Tosside Yorkshire)
his brother
Tom Hodgson 26671 Grenadier Guards KIA ( lived in Tosside Yorkshire)
The medals all came from the descendants of Henry Scott who did not know anything about them
i have found a lot of information about all the individuals
but can anyone throw any light on why all the medals ended up in the the possession of Henry Scott
i have tried to find a family link but so far have been unsuccessful
can anyone help throw some light on this
I suppose he could have collected them

Derbyshire / William Brailsford B c1833 Chesterfield
« on: Friday 01 April 16 20:58 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if anyone can help me?
I am searching for the baptism of William Brailsford in Chesterfield c1833
He seems to have used the surname Brailsford and also Greenwood which might lead me to believe he was illegitimate
His mother perhaps Greenwood
He died in 1874 in Melbourne and was married to Marie Kershaw in Nottingham in 1857
Many thanks
