Durham / Help with finding family
« on: Sunday 11 February 24 01:39 GMT (UK)  »
I got stuck looking through Durham Archives when I came across some probated wills. One caught my attention, that of William Stonehouse Probate 1814.
William was a Farmer of Egglescliffe.
The executors of the Will were William Stonehouse and Irasel Hutchinson.
Beniferies were;
Son William
Son Joseph
Daughter Mary Morson wife of Ambrose
Daughter Sarah Kay wife of Cuthbert
Grandson William son of Joseph.
Granddaughter Elizabeth Morson

I have Stonehouses living in Egglescliffe and I have a Stonehouse/ Huctinson marriage 1704 in Hinderwell but I can not find the link.
I did find a marriage between Sarah Stonehouse and Cuthbert Kay on 18 May 1811 in Egglescliffe.

Well don't know what happened but I went back into the Archives site to get a link and all I get is a 404 page error. I did bookmark it as well and that's disappeared too.
Can anyone help get me on the right track to finding the link between this family and mine?

Edit Morson appears as the spelling for Ambrose who married Mary Stonehouse in Egglescliffe on 2 Feb 1799.

Durham / Christopher Stonehouse 1929
« on: Monday 29 January 24 00:22 GMT (UK)  »
Christopher was my Great Great Uncle who took his own life on the 4 July 1929.
I know from his death Certificate that an inquest was held at Middlesbrough on the 5th of July 1929.
I am looking for any information on the inquest.
I have tried Find My Past and am coming up with zero.
Where would I find information on the inquest?
Any help appreciated

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / My Dad and his brother
« on: Saturday 30 December 23 21:00 GMT (UK)  »
Several years ago I was sent this photo (scan).
It is my father, (Frank, the tall one) uncle (Corrie), and their cousin (all deceased).
My Uncle was born in 1933 and died in 1945. This is the only photo the family has of Uncle Corrie.
It was taken in Amsterdam in winter.
Can I have some color as I know these photos come up great after a color.
Happy New Year
All the Best for 2024.
Thank you

Cork / Thornhill and Moore Families Help!
« on: Wednesday 27 December 23 23:36 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for John Thornhill who according to his marriage certificate was full age, a bachelor living at Sunday Wells, Parish of St Mary Shandon, Cork City. He was a Writing Clerk and his father William was a Clerk Peace Office.
He married Margaret Moore of full age, a spinster living at Paul Street, Parish of St Paul's City of Cork.
She was a storekeeper as was her father John.
They married in the Register Office in Cork City on the 14th of July 1855. Witnesses were D.Connor and Mary O'Connor(who made her Mark)

Margaret and 3 children, William 1856, Annie 1859, and Louis 1859 came to New Zealand on the Asia in 1874.
To date, I can find no evidence of her husband John coming to New Zealand.
Many trees have a Johnson Thornhill as her husband. This man was born about 1816, was a miner from Ireland, and died in New Zealand in 1871. I can find no evidence to connect Johnson to John or Margaret.
Would like to know about John Moore and his family also William Thornhill's family.
What happens to John?
A New Year's miracle would be good.

Technical Help / 0ne Drive
« on: Saturday 05 August 23 21:49 BST (UK)  »
I have one drive and it is full. I need to upgrade. I did not want one drive in the first place so only backed up to the computer.
I now notice that my backups have been going to one drive.
Can I empty one drive and back up to the computer only, as that is what I thought I had been doing.
Carol.
Bit of a dunce when it comes to how a computer works.
