Just come across a baptism for William Pullan of Knaresborough in 1801.

It says he is the son of Mary Pullan, illegitimate by incest of father in law Robert Handers.

All I can find on Robert Handers is a marriage to Mary Pullan widow in 1791 & then in 1795 at Mary's burial were he is down as husband.

I cannot find any other connexion between the 2 families so I am coming to the conclusion that he is the stepfather or with the death of Mary possibly guardian & not father in law.

Do you think this assumption is right or do you think I am missing  something.

Can someone please correct an entry on Find a Grave.

I have come across an entry for Harry Atkinson on Find a Grave that even a researcher with a minimum of experience will know is incorrect & the only thing they have correct is the name of his wife.

They have him being born in 1885 in Goole & some of his siblings are his nieces & nephews & he is in the 1939 register.

Going by the one they have & his wives details I would say he was born about 1894/93 in the Halifax area.

So could someone with access to the site please give them a correction notice please

I have been going though some of my old research and using the 1939 to put some missed birth dates to some of my ancestors.

I have a Lewis Spivey, (2 cousin 3x removed.) The family move to Leeds from Huddersfield. The census & his marriage as his father as Arthur Spivey & his mother was Sarah Jane Spivey, nee Stocks. Everything looks alright everything ties in  but I he was the only member of the family I didn't have a baptism for.
I got his birth date, 6 December 1893 from the 1939 register and went back to the baptisms & found him baptised 21 February 1894 at Huddersfield St. Peter's. His mother is Sarah Jane but his father is Lewis Walker. I first thought he was Lewis Walker Spivey but I cannot find a Lewis Walker Spivey so I looked for a Lewis Walker & I have one. He was 1872 & he is married to Edith Harriet Stocks in 1896 & she was Sarah Jane's sister.

So would you say that the person doing the baptism made a mistake & put Lewis Walker down as the father instead of godfather or was Lewis Walker the real father & should I change the father on my tree?

I have a Sam Bates born 1895 and photo on ancestry post for him as a newspaper photo of him saying L/Corp medaile milotarire.
He is one of 6 brothers hat served in WW1 2 of which were killed and another was wounded twice and received the military medial.
The photo looks to have him in a Yorkshire Regiment uniform but I cannot find a Sam Bates in that regiment so does anyone know if their is a register of Medaile militaire that will give his regimental details.
The Sawood Chapel memorial have the brothers on it but they do not seem to have any extra details so I need your expert advice.

I was thinking about all the wonderful events that went into commemorating this year's Armistice when a thought came to me! are we commemorating the right time.
We know that the ceasefire started on the 11 hour of the 11 day of the 11 month but which time zone did they use.
France and Belgium are 1 hour in front of England. So, if it was the French time zone the time of the Armistice would have been 10 o'clock in England so shouldn't we have commemorated the event then. Or if it was the English time zone and with the War being in France & Belgium shouldn't the time of the Armistice be 12 o'clock not 11.
