Hampshire & Isle of Wight / Edward LAWRENCE - still missing
« on: Wednesday 29 August 12 22:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi......Re investigating after putting info away for a few years..........Does anyone have an Edward Cecil Lawrence in their family tree who may have been born in the late 1890's/early 1900's......He was residing in Boscombe, Bournemouth in the mid 1930's and working as a hotel porter. He seems to have left Bournemouth during  1936/37.   He may have been from out of the area as someone who was a child at the time remembers him having a funny accent.
This is a real long shot but his name is on my mothers birth certificate and the kellys directory shows him as residing for approx 3 years at an address in Ashley Road Boscombe Bournemouth.  As the mother (born 1898/died 1945 )and him were not married is there anyway i could ever find out where he was from/what age he was etc except by posting here and hoping one day this tiny bit of info jogs someones memory somewhere  :-[

Thanks in anticipation .... cheryle.f

Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / help please
« on: Friday 09 February 07 17:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Northampton Board....Lavinia Barnes b 1859 Northampton,  was living in Hulme in Manchester in 1901 at which time she had married to a Bell. She was the daughter of Richard b 1825 Maidford  and Sarah Barnes nee Bodfish b 1825 Blakesley  living in  Maidford Northampton. They were pretty stationary in Maidford right back through all the years of census returns. Richard always stated in every census that he was born Maidford. I got back to the 41 and found that even though Richard would have only been 16 he was not there. Maidford itself was a tiny place and in 1841 there were only a couple of Barnes entries there so if anyone has the Parish records for Maidford would it be possible to have a look to see who he would have been born to? :)

            Thanking you in anticipation

Lancashire Lookup Requests / help needed please
« on: Saturday 20 January 07 22:16 GMT (UK)  »
Ive been looking since 8 o'clock >:( for a street in salford in 1901. On a birth cert l have an address of the mother of 41 Ryland Street in the sub district of Regent Road...County of Salford.......but l cannot find it. Any help gratefully received :)  The mother is Henrietta Buckley but had given birth to Nellie Buckley in the Union workhouse on 11 November 1901? Any ideas anyone? The informant was H Buckley (Harry or Henry possibly ) stated as her  brother, whos address was also the Union workhouse Salford ???. I thought at first that the 41, Ryland Street noted could be the actual address of the Union workhouse but from web sites l have visited l think that the workhouse was on Regent Road itself.

              Thank you  in anticipation cheryle.f

« on: Monday 15 January 07 22:08 GMT (UK)  »
Nelly Buckley was born 11 Nov 1901 in Salford Manchester. Her father was William Thomas Buckley who was a Cotton Goods Locker. She later married a gentleman by the name of Birch and then remarried at a later date to a William Barnes from Northampton.. If anyone has followed the Buckley family at all from Salford(they all came from there)and has any idea who Nellys mother was i would be very gratefull for any help. Nelly only spoke of a brother(so maybe only one sibling)who drowned but we nothing of this event so far.

Any help at all would be a help. ;D

Hampshire & IOW Completed Lookup Requests / William Curtis's Siblings?
« on: Sunday 17 December 06 23:06 GMT (UK)  »
:) William Curtis b Breamore approx 1785 married one Sarah Moody b 1785 from Downton.  I think they married about1813 and one of the children born was Stephen Curtis born about 1824....the line l am following. But.....there were no Edwarde/Edward's born in this generation of children yet Stephens Daughter Mary Ann Curtis born 1853 in Breamore passed down an elaborate certificate of entrance into the church at Westminster of one Edwarde Curtis in 1820. I now presume that the certificate which is very ornate and beautiful although very delicate must be for the siblings of William b Breamore pre 1800. He would be the 3xgrandfather of the 84 year old gentleman in my family who had been left the certificate in 1950 with his mothers belongings(the daughter of Mary Ann Curtis). Any help on finding William Curtis siblings would be great.

                        Happy Christmas :)

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Another George?
« on: Saturday 23 September 06 20:39 BST (UK)  »
:) Hi Wiltshire board......In the census in 1841 George Mussellwhite is with his wife Charlotte and son Charles age 1. Between 1841 and 1851 something happens to George as Charlotte is next found living as a housekeeper to John Webb who she eventually marries in 1858,( but is having children with him from 1849 to 1859. I have never found a death for George but this evening have found this.

           George Muslewhite  age  25  29 June 1841

           Prison  County

Type  B (Bad means accused or convicted)

Destination  Tr 10 (transported for 10 years)

So i have a predicament, Is there another George born about the same time as my George (1816)or was this  the reason i could never find Charlottes husband after 41, but being reminded of the fact her next child in 1849 was born only child of Charlotte Mussellwhite  when she seems to be already living with John Webb. If anyone can find an elusive George Musselwhite(variations possible) it would really help.

                Thank you kindly

                       Cheryle
