Family History Beginners Board / Magdalen Asylum, Convent of the Good Shepherd, Lichfield Hall, Blackley, Manches

I am trying to find some information about a Laura Mary Daly born 1886 in Bristol, who is cited in 1911 as being an inmate in the Magdalen Asylum. It is possible that she was pregnant when she entered the asylum and if she was what would have happened to the baby once it was born. Do these Convents have a list of babies born, died and adopted, while the inmate was in their care?

Immigrants & Emigrants - General / Laboureur's who died in Spain around the 1970's

I wonder if anyone can help me? My Great Aunt Mathilda Maude Laboureur nee Shepherd went to live in Spain with her husband Jorge Laboureur and I believe that she died in the 1970's but none of my family know where or exactly when. Jorge Laboureur was in the Diplomatic Corp before retiring to Spain with Mathilda. How would I go about finding their date of deaths and where they died in Spain?

Kirkcudbrightshire / Heron family

Hi,

Am looking into the Heron family, I have a Henry Heron (born about 1843 in Scotland) who married Mary Simpson (born abt 1847), a daughter called Alice Simpson/Heron born abt 1869 Troqueer, Kirkcudbrightshire, she married a Baptiste Alphonse Caroen (know nothing about him) poss married in Berwick on Tweed, not sure of dob, who died before 1856. Alice then married a Patrick Rowan in 1891.

Any info on the above would be helpful. Especially if it involves dob, marriage dates, children etc.

Berkshire / Lockinge Estate, Wantage

Hi,

I know that this is probably a needle in a haystack situation, but does anyone have any photos of the people who worked on the Lockinge Estate, Wantage around 1914. Or are they familiar with anyone who had a cleft lip who worked on the Estate at that time. The reason I ask is that the only clue I have to a relative is the cleft lip and that they may have worked on the Lockinge Estate.

Kent / Booker/Gibson marriage

I wonder if anyone can confirm if Francis Booker (born 1787 Enysford, Kent) married Sarah Gibson (born 1799 Eynsford, Kent), it could have been around 1826. I have searched all the Eynsfords Parish Records and have found nothing. Their first child was bapt in 1827 and I have found all the children's baptisms in the Eynsford Parish Records.

Kent / Emma Carrott/Carrett

I am trying to find the parents of Emma Carrott/Carrett born 1822 in Speldhurst, Kent. Emma married Charles Funnell in 1850 and died 6 March 1867 and her death was registered in Uckfield, Sussex. There seems to be some confusion over Emma's parentage from looking at other family trees. Some dates just dont match up. The nearest I have got is a John and Jane Carrott of Speldhurst, but I cant find Jane's surname nor anything else to do with this family.

I have tried to find online birth details of Emma in Speldhurst but to no avail. How would I find the marriage details in 1850 I think they married in Tonbridge, as this might give me her father's name at least?
If Emma's death was registered in Uckfield which parish was she likely to be buried in? Her last address before dying was Maresfield?

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / James HURFORD c1837 marriage

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help me? I have been trying to find the marriage of James Hurford (c1837 Buckland St Mary, Somerset) and a Jane ? which would have been around 1858. (Their first child was born in 1859 and was called Mary Ann) Jane was born c1834 Old Cleeve, Somerset. I have found James and Jane in all the census details from 1861 to 1911 but havent found a citation for their marriage. The 1911 census states the name Mary Jane Hurford and that they are living at Brickyard House Old Taunton Road Bridgwater.

Any help much appreciated.

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / brickwall Foveaux/Kirby marriage

Am finding it really hard to find a marriage for Richard Foveaux (1757) and Mary Kirby (c1760) which we think took place around 1784/5/6. Their daughter Mary was born in Belgium c1786 and son Richard Charles also born in Belgium 1788.
We know that Richard came from Ampthill, Bedforeshire and was the eldest son of Joseph Foveaux and Elizabeth Wheeler.

In order to clarify a connection between Mary Kirby and our family it is vital that we find the marriage certificate, but to date we have run into a brick wall. It is possible that they may have married in Belgium but the family think the marriage was in England.
Any help would be appreciated.
