Hi
I am having great fun with this branch of my family and am in need of help/Advice please.
John McLAIN b abt 1813 in (Cornhill - 1851 census, Newcastle - 1861 census) was last spotted in Bedlington with his wife Margaret b abt 1816 ( Doddington- 1851 or Newcastle -1861). He was a miner
They had several children:-
George (~ 1837 Egglingham ), Ellen(1839 Whittle? or Bedlington), Adam(1840 Cramlington or Bedlington) , William(1844 Cowpen or Bedlington) , Margaret(1847 Bedlington), Mary-Ann(1849 Bedlington), John (1850 Bedlington) ,James(1853 Bedlington)
In 1865 Mary Ann was in South Shields where she married aged 16 (but gave her age as 22!) John OATES aged 33 (gave age as 28!) . In subsequest censuses their ages went back to normal I must add!
I would love to find out where John and Margaret are buried as I cannot find them on the 1871 or later censuses (too many candidates on freeBMD for a positive sighting) - any ideas? The Bedlington MI's have been checked with no joy for any of them.
I can find no baptisms for the children in the obvious places (IGI, BVRI etc). I think they may have been prebyterian or Methodist as Mary Ann was married presybterian and baptised her children Methodist (husband was C of E).
So the question is - If someone was a Methodist in Bedlington - where would they have been baptised and where would they have been buried?
Thanks for any tips
