Australia / Twomey Dwyer Family Tree
« on: Saturday 28 November 15 05:11 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
Adding to information below.
I am looking for:
1) Immigration records for Sarah Twomey (nee Bennett) and husband. Waiting for marriage certificate to confirm parents of Edward George Twomey.
2) Also need to clarify if the Edward Twomey (Miner)  at Gympie is my Edward George Twomey.  Edward George Twomey is buried at 1929 Balmoral Cemetery and so is Maurice Twomey who died in 1944. Not sure if this my family.
3) Edward George and Edith Alice Twomey both died young and their surviving son Leonard Henry Twomey was reared by step sister Ena Graham (nee Mantle).
4) Also looking for immigration, Marriage and/or birth records for John Dwyer and Anne King.
                                                      ---------------------------------

I am looking for ancestral information for Thomas Patrick Dwyer (?1851-1939)  who married or partnered Hannah Levy ( ?1858 - 1945)  about 1877. Unable to find marriage confirmation.  Together they had eight children. Initially they were in NSW  Australia but by 1908 they had settled in Ipswich Qld Australia. Hannah is buried in the Ipswich Cemetery Qld and Thomas Toowong Cemetery .  Hannah's parents  were Joseph Levy and ? Thompson and Thomas' father was known as John (maybe James) and mother  Anne King.
Also looking for information on Edward George Twomey who married Edith Alice Josephine Dwyer / Mantle (1884 -1931) on  16 Dec 1922.  Edith was daughter of Thomas and Hannah Dwyer and this was her second marriage.  She had five children from her 1st marriage to Joseph Patrick Mantle and two with George  Twomey her 2nd marriage.

If anyone can assist with info would love to hear from you,
Thanks Bevcal

Australia / Look up Electoral Roll for William M & Sarah MANTON
« on: Friday 16 July 10 14:47 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to trace the whereabouts of the Manton family from 1853 -1862.

The Manton Family ( William M, Sarah (nee Swain), Selina, Elizabeth, and John)  immigrated  to Australia,  on the ship "Marion Moore" departing Liverpool UK and arriving Melbourne 15 th February 1853.  Alfred last child was either born on route to Australia or when the family arrived , his  birth is registered in Victoria.

William was sponsored for 12 months by Felton & Chadwick, Lower Murray for 12 months for 50 pounds..
The next time I have been able to locate this family is in the Gundagia area NSW  in about 1862.

The Manton children,  have all married in that area, with the exception of John so it looks like at some point the family moved to that area.

However I am unable to find any death records for either of this couple nor have I been able to find any burial records.
If someone could check the electoral roll in that area for that time frame I would be most grateful
Thanks you

Australia / DEAN or SEILER
« on: Tuesday 25 May 10 11:25 BST (UK)  »
Who are these people?   They are a relation of the Dean & Seiler families in Adelong NSW but cannot find out what branch. This photo was found in my parents things after they had died and nobody who is left can give me any clues.

The back of the photo reads  Claude & Dolly 4 April 1942 and is addressed to Aunty Em (my grandmother and Lena my Mum).

thanks
Bev

Australia / MANTON Family
« on: Tuesday 25 May 10 11:15 BST (UK)  »
: Hello,
I am trying to trace my ancestors. William M Manton who married Sarah Swain 25 Dec 1845 in Kidderminster, Worcester, England.
The Manton Family immigrated to Australia, on the ship "Marion Moore", departing LIverpool UK and arriving Melbourne 15th February 1853.

The Family consisted of William and Sarah and children Selina & John, (who I think were twins as per the 1850 UK census, both Selena & John's ages are given as 5) and Elizabeth. Alfred was born in Melbourne Victoria after they arrived.

William was sponsored for 12 months by Felton & Chadwick, Lower Murray for 12 months for 50 pounds..

Selina born 5 Jul 1846 in Kidderminster, Worcester, England married my Great grandfather Alfred James Dean in Gundagai NSW Australia, 19 Jan 1862 under the name of Selina Clark. ?? why. As she was only 15/16 years old at that time. We are assuming that she stated her age at 18 to get married. She gave her name on my grand parents marriage certificate as Selina Manton. She died at age 33, death certificate states from lung congestion, and is buried in Adelong NSW Australia after having 9 children.
My grandfather was only 9 days old.

The next time I can find any information is gundagai NSW where the family must have settled. Elizabeth and Alfred were married in Gundagai and Alfred died there. Elizabeth married Thomas Field in 1871 and Alfred married Louisa Fuller in 1875. Louisa Booby is the daughter of Alfred.

I am not sure what has happened to John but there is a possibility he was buried in Adelong.

I cannot find any reference for William and Sarah. I would be grateful if anyone can share any information which may lead to the resting place for this couple and also any information relating to John.
Thank you
Bev
