Staffordshire / Black men of Biddulph Moor (BAILEY, BROOKS, NIXON)
« on: Wednesday 26 October 16 15:08 BST (UK)  »
I've been researching the above topic and am particularly keen to hear from anyone with a working knowledge of the BROOKS, NIXON & BAILEY surnames of Biddulph Moor in North Staffordshire.

I am trying to link these families to those of Middleton by Wirksworth in Derbyshire - all three names are associated via an unusual DNA haplogroup in MbyW and the only place I've ever encountered these surnames so prominently in close proximity is here at Biddulph Moor.

The DNA link is particularly relevant as the Hg in question is an predominantly African DNA.....hence my interest in the legend of the Black men of the area and the Crusade origin - as the date of the crusade in question links nicely too - I suspect there may be more than a coincidental link.

If anyone is connected to these surnames in this place and especially if you were a part of a BBC DNA research programme some years ago please contact me.

« on: Thursday 22 August 13 20:13 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Is anyone researching either the Hinchcliffe family from Dartford (particularly Charles Herbert 1882) and the Langley family from Hythe (particularly Annie 1876 - born in India and working as a teacher in 1901) - also (possibly....their son Herbert 1899)?

Id be interested to connect with anyone connected to or researching these families.

Derbyshire / Cambridge St Derby - photos wanted
« on: Sunday 21 April 13 08:50 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I'm looking to find some old photos of Cambridge Street in Derby c 1890 - my gt.grandad was living at no 4 when he died; he was probably working at Fletchers foundry in Litchurch Lane.

I've visited the street, but its clear that where no 4 would have stood there are some new houses, so I guess it was demolished. If any one has a photo of Cambridge St from that period I'd be very grateful if they'd be willing to share it.

Essex / Hinchcliffe, in Essex

Hi,

I'm hoping to hear from anyone who can expand on this chap or lead me to his family.

http://www.brooksfamily.name/showmedia.php?mediaID=559&medialinkID=689

This link takes you to a press cutting about Herbert Hinchcliffe born in 1903 - I don't know where he was born but from the cutting I know he was working and living in Grays as a lacquer operator in June 1946; perhaps someone knows what this job involved and whether I might be able to identify where he was employed in Grays from that.

Any help in identifying him or his family would be greatly appreciated  :)

Derbyshire / BROOKS of Derbyshire

Would like to hear from anyone researching the Brooks family of Middleton by Wirksworth, Milford & Duffield in Derbyshire but anywhere in the County really.

Particularly interested if anyone would like to expand the work of a group of DNA genetic researchers who are looking at this and other families in the Peak District with a common L19 feature within their DNA.

Please take a look at www.brooksfamily.name for details of this one name study

« on: Friday 30 December 11 18:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I'm hoping to hear from someone with knowledge of a marriage between Stanley Fredrick Hinchcliffe and Winifred M Attwood in 1934. I'm hoping to secure a bit of info about the Hinchcliffe family as I'm trying to pin down a branch of this family and Stanley's brother Herbert in particular...assuming that this Stanley was from Bromley :-\
