The Common Room / Missionaries.
« on: Friday 15 November 19 22:09 GMT (UK)  »
I have had some trouble finding out what happened to the daughter of a great uncle of mine. She was alive in 1940 because she registered the death of her mother and was still single. I have not found that she married or her traced her death.
Now, however, I have found a person with the correct name but with first name initials only and still a Miss who left Britain, sailing from Glasgow in 1944, bound for India, with her occupation given as missionary. The only incorrect detail is her listed age is five years younger than she should have been.
I think that being a missionary is something she would have done because her father was a Baptist minister.
Is it possible to trace her history in India and, if so, how do I go about it?.

Montgomeryshire / Graves @ Church of St Mary, Welshpool.
« on: Tuesday 06 December 16 13:13 GMT (UK)  »
According to what I have found, I have some relatives buried at St Mary's Church, Welshpool. The burials took place between 1896 and 1914.

Now then, whilst I do not expect any gravestones which may have been erected to still be in situ, I was wondering if any gravestones, which have been removed, have been placed, as in other graveyards, around the perimeter of the Church grounds or if there are still gravestones still standing?.

Any info gratefully received and appreciated.

World War One / French Trip - Bethune C.W.G.C. Site.
« on: Thursday 12 March 15 13:18 GMT (UK)  »
On 25th March, all being well, I shall be travelling to Bethune in the Pas de Calais to visit the grave of my uncle who died in France in 1916. I believe I will, in all likleyhood, be the first member of the family to do so.

If any of you out there want a photograph of a grave in the C.W.G.C. site at Bethune please P.M. me with full details, together with an e mail address, and I, hopefully, will be able to get it for you.

« on: Thursday 12 November 09 13:57 GMT (UK)  »
An uncle of mine was wounded, treated but died in a Casualty Clearing Station in 1915. I am aware that some records exist from these stations but is anyone aware of how I would find out if his are still in existence and how would I get a copy?. I have full details of his name, d.o.b., regiment, battlion, service number and the relevant dates.

Technical Help / Site Advisor.
« on: Saturday 15 November 08 14:57 GMT (UK)  »
I have, in the last few days, downloaded McAfee's new security centre. I have had McAfee security for a longtime now.

With it came McAfee Site Advisor which is on my toolbar. It worked fine at first but now seems to have, somehow, stopped operating and I can't get it to work again.

I initially entered a couple of approved sites on it, one of them being R.C., but they have now also disappeared from the approved sites list.

The Site Advisor icon is greyed out as is view site report and show balloon(this shows that the site has been checked by the Site Advisor) in the drop down menu and neither operate.

Help ...............?? ...... please if possible.

Cardiganshire / Aberystwyth Choirs.
« on: Thursday 30 October 08 14:22 GMT (UK)  »
A great uncle of mine lived in Aberystwyth bet 1946 and 1951. His obituary sates that he was one of the founding members of the Ystwyth Male Voice Choir and that he was also a member of the Rheidolians Mixed Choir.

I have searched the internet for any information that there may be on these two choirs and I can't find a scrap about them.

I assume, therefore, they either no longer in being or they exist under different names.

Is there anyone out there who has any information at all on these choirs
