Durham / Old Soldier - Michael Mahon - Died Roker 1910
« on: Monday 30 January 12 19:07 GMT (UK)  »

Can anyone help me please; I am trying to locate the final resting place for Michael Mahon born 1828 – died 28 Sept 1910.  He was living at 25 Kingston Terrace, Roker, Sunderland at the time of his death and it is thought he is buried in Jarrow or Haughton le Spring Cemetery, although I would think Haughton is a little far out?
Many thanks

I am trying to research the military record of John Thomas Parkes, born 7 Oct 1879 in Aston, West Midlands. I hold his WW1 medals; 1914 – 1915 Star; the reverse gives his Number, Rank, name & Regiment.
(15794 – Private - JT Parkes - Gloucs)
1914 – 1918 British Medal & 1914 – 1919 Victory Medal
I know he served in The Gloucestershire Regiment, in France and was wounded 4 times, also suffered with the effects of ‘Mustard Gas’ long after the war and died 31 March 1928, Sparkhill, Birmingham.
Other than a WW1 Medal Roll listing at The National Archives, I am not sure if a service record is available or not as I didn’t find one?
Any pointers please
