Family History Beginners Board / Mary Grigg of St. Columb Major Cornwall
« on: Monday 02 August 10 08:18 BST (UK)  »
I am seeking family information for Mary Grigg who wed Richard Veale II at St. Columb Major, Cornwall. (Date of marriage not known.)
I have her dates as approx. 1746-1834. Five children: Henry, William, Jane, Jacob, and Richard Veale III. Richard Veale II and Mary Grigg Veale lived at Rosewastis Farm a short distance south of St. Columb Major. I have a copy of his will from 1836. She predeceased him. They were my g-g-g-g grandparents in my mother's line. Richard Veale III emigrated with his wife, Temperance Rowe, to Pike County, Missouri, USA, in 1820 with their four children, one of them my g-g grandfather Jacob Veale (named for his paternal uncle no doubt). At present I have no information whatsoever about Mary Grigg's family.

Family History Beginners Board / Henry Pearcy, born in Gomeldon, Wiltshire
« on: Wednesday 21 July 10 10:26 BST (UK)  »
Henry Pearcy was my great-grandfather. Born ca. 1847 in Gomeldon, Wiltshire, he married Susanna Hayes in 1875 in the Alderbury distict of Salisbury. They continued to live in Fisherton Anger, Salisbuty, Wiltshire, where he worked as a baker, until about 1881, when they emigrated to Canada, then to Iowa, USA, where they lived for several years before finally moving to Iantha, Barton County, Missouri.
I have names for a few of Henry's ancestors: Father Charles Pearcy, mother Mary Brown; paternal grandparents Charles Pearcy Sr., mother Elizabeth London; great-grandparents in the Pearcy line Richard Pearcy and Sarah Viney; Sarah's parents Henry Viney and Elizabeth Wills; Henry Viney's parents William Viney and Sarah Taylor.
I am looking for any other information available about any of these people including birth and death dates, occupations, residencies, and any others in Henry's ancestry not included in this list, plus any siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.
Henry left many descendants in the USA besides myself, as he had a dozen children and most of those had multiple offspring, etc.

Family History Beginners Board / Hayes family emigration to Australia
« on: Tuesday 20 July 10 04:15 BST (UK)  »
My great-great grandparents, Francis Hayes and Ann Elizabeth Hayes, emigrated ca. 1881-1882 from Salisbury, Wiltshire, to Australia. The only one of their children I know the name of, Susanna, had already married and emigrated with her husband, Henry Pearcy, at the same time to Canada, then the USA. They were my great-grandparents.
I understand that Susanna was still in touch with her parents in Australia late in her life, circa the 1920s, as she is described as making plans for a trip to Australia to claim an inheritance at about that time, which she canceled after breaking a leg in a home accident.
I am hoping to trace Francis and Ann Elizabeth Hayes to where they settled in Australia in the early 1880s, and perhaps link with their descendants.
