Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Ingram Baptism in Todenham
« on: Sunday 01 November 20 20:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

Do any of my rootschat friends have access to Parish Registers for North Gloucestershire?

I believe my 3xgreat grandmother, Mary Ann Ingram, was born around 1790 in Todenham on the Gloucestershire/Warwickshire border and am looking to have that confirmed plus the names of her parents - I think her father was Joseph Ingram.

Thanks in Advance, your assistance is very much appreciated.

Somerset Lookup Requests / Somerset Electoral Roll look up
« on: Sunday 22 July 18 14:48 BST (UK)  »
I'm asking this completely ignorant of how the Electoral Roles were organised for Bath in the early 20's but wondered if someone could look up either a William Rose or his wife Edith - married in 1920 - to find the address they were living in either in 1922 or 1939.

I'm trying to piece together the family of a Robert Rose who was killed in WW2 aboard a Motor Torpedo Boat and remembered in a tiny Leicestershire village where he was billetted. I now from his birth registration in 1922 that Robert was registered in the Bath District and his mothers maiden name was Miller which led me back to the 1920 marriage as it's the only one that fits the georgraphic/age puzzle.

I've tried searching the 1939 register, 1911 census and various Rose family trees without success. TIA

US Lookup Requests / Newspaper Lookup air crash 3rd October 1943
« on: Thursday 08 March 18 20:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I'm researching a William Edwin James Thomson who I've located on the CWGC as a Leading Airman at the shore base HMS Saker. He is one of seven listed on the Naval History net for the 3rd October 1943 under the entry 'Air Crash' and I wondered if someone with access to the US Newspapers could do a keyword search to see if anything pops up.
Cheers

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / 1939 Electoral Role look up
« on: Sunday 18 February 18 21:25 GMT (UK)  »
I'm on the look out for an address where a local WW2 casualty lived before the war. Stanley Harold Shilcock married a Joan Mildred Willsdon in 1939 and I believe they lived at 6 Salmondsbury Cottages Bourton on the Water but would appreciate it if someone could confirm that. Stanley was with the 4th Bn Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry when he was killed on the 30th May 1940.

Thanks.

Census and Resource Discussion / 1939 Register search tips
« on: Thursday 15 February 18 13:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hello

I'm hoping a more intensive user of the 1939 register on FindMyPast can give me some pointers. I've located a number of families were a son was killed in WW2 and provided CWGC entries to open up their record - great.

My Great Aunt and Uncle aren't listed with their parents as they were married before the register was taken and so living elsewhere. My Great Aunt has been passed away a few years now and Great Uncle killed during the war. Repeated tweaks on the searches have yet to pull where they were living at the time. I can hazard a guess at the three districts they were living but no other way to ration it down.

Any hints and tips gladly received.

United States of America / B17 Heavenly Body crew killed 27 Sept 1944
« on: Sunday 10 December 17 21:40 GMT (UK)  »
I wondered some useful folk with access to US records could help me piece together some details on a B17 crew named Heavenly Body that crashed near Nailstone in Leicestershire on the 27th September 1944.

The names are
Micheal H Primus, the pilot
Louis G Deputy, the co-pilot
Richard J Hermann, Navigator 2nd Lt
Robert Campbell Simmons, Bombardier 2nd Lt
Roy E Griswold, Technical Sergeant (2nd Grade) Airplane Mechanic-Gunner, Automatic Rifleman
Claude E Keele, Technical Sergeant Radio Operator - Mechanic Gunner, AAF
Harry   Stoever, Ball Turret S/Sgt
Lawrence Richter, Wing Gunner S/Sgt
Americo Vergili, Tail Turret S/Sgt

Plus three members of the Mobile Training Unit:
Ralph W Franke, Staff Sergeant (3rd Grade) Power Turret and Gunsight Mechanic
John C Barry, S/Sgt Airplane Instrument Mechanic
Edward Shively, Staff Sergeant (3rd Grade) Airplane Electrical Mechanic

Right now I'm after as much detail about the lads as possible - Family details such as parents and siblings, place and date of birth, etc. I've traced a picture of most of the crew, with the exception of Deputy, Franke, Barry and Shively. I have dates of birth for Simmons and Keele.

All detail will be going to a book of WW2 casualties from that area that raises money for the Royal British Legion and it seems fitting to include these lads in that number. Any assistance is very much appreciated.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Ashton in Makerfield baptism lookup
« on: Monday 31 July 17 11:46 BST (UK)  »
Hello folks
I wondered if someone with access to the Baptism records for Ashton-in-Makerfield, Lancashire could have a look for a Richard Bennett around 1834ish for me?

I'm basing the name, place and date based on census information from 1861 through to 1911. I think I've found an 1841 census entry for him with parents Elizabeth and Henry Bennett in Ashton but with no identifiable 1851 entry I'm trying to find alternate sources for his parents but can't find a baptism.
Thanks in Advance.

Europe / France: Pointers needed on tracing French Ancestry
« on: Tuesday 25 July 17 13:14 BST (UK)  »
I'm tracing my partners tree and for the very first time I need to research French records. Can anyone suggest what online resources there are available.

My quest begins with the marriage of Flaminio and Laurence Tardy in the 1820's - their son Ernest Gustave was born in Paris around 1829 according to the English 1861 census for Stretford. Flaminio appears with her son in 1871 in the same parish. I have a flood of questions about their siblings/forebears so any assistance is very much appreciated.
Thanks in Advance
