Technical Help / Sonic Update Manager Problem

Each time I start my laptop up I get a window titled Sonic Update Manager which tells me to insert the CD.  I don't have the CD!  It takes me ages to get rid of the window by cancelling.

My questions are:

What is Sonic?  Do I need it?  Is it safe to uninstall it?

Would welcome any advice.

I have restored a pic this afternoon without any problems.  Have just opened another pic and when I click a tool I just get the + icon, as you do when you set the tool to the smallest setting.  Even if I set the brush, clone etc to the largest setting the icon does not alter size.

I get the + icon with all the tools including the lasoo.  Have reset all tools but it hasn't helped.

I've obviously clicked something I shouldn't have but no idea what.  :-\

If I re-install Elements will I lose all the pics I already have saved?

Would welcome any advice.

Hi

I am searching for Elizabeth c 1854 and Mary Ann Brooks 1857/59 both born Rochdale, on the 1861 census.

On 1871 census I have:

Joseph Brooks 44, widow, b Rochdale (in 1861 he states Halifax)
James H 19, son, b Rochdale
Elizabeth 17, dau, b Rochdale
Mary A 14, dau, b Rochdale

I have their father Joseph and other siblings in 1861 on RG9/3045 F63 P15 but no sign of Elizabeth or Mary Ann.  I am hoping they are with their mother (unknown) in 1861.

Any help much appreciated.
