Glamorganshire Lookup Requests / Llanwonno MI's
« on: Wednesday 17 May 23 20:57 BST (UK)  »
I wonder if someone who has access to Llanwonno MI's could confirm whether there is an inscription for John Lewis buried on Llanwonno 13 Nov 1867. I am specifically only wanting to know whether a short 4 lined poem in Welsh, that is printed on his burial card also appeared on his gravestone.

Carmarthenshire / Looking For Priory Street Carmarthen 1861 Census
« on: Thursday 23 February 23 19:13 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone find Priory street Carmarthen on the 1861 Census ???

It's not listed as missing on FindMyPast, but Enumeration Dist 1 for Carmarthen is missing on Anc and I've looked through the other districts in vain. Not coming up in an address search or any searches for people known to be living there either.

I was hoping to manage another adult's DNA Ancestry test and link it to their family tree that I have created under my account.

DNA test arrived, but they are not happy activating the Ancestry DNA test because Ancestry is saying they have to set up a free account for 14 days, but it is asking for credit card details.

The link I sent them (following advice on the Ancestry site) says they would be able to have a free account, but it seems in reality, this is only for 14 days and they would have to cancel the free account to avoid being billed.

Ancestry says I would somehow supposedly be able to manage their DNA results. According to the info Ancestry is supplying me about managing another adult's test, they would simply send me an invite via some link on the site, that would allow me to manage their test.

Can anyone confirm what happens if they set up an account and then cancel it within 14 days. Will I still be able to manage their results and link them to "their tree" on my account after the 14 free days are up?

Thanks

Glamorganshire / Graveyard Query
« on: Tuesday 08 February 22 14:37 GMT (UK)  »
There's a graveyard at Cwmavon (not Pant Du) - down a lane (now a cycle  track), alongside the Oakwood Pub, which is opposite the Parish church & graveyard of Michaelstone Super Avon.

Could be the patch to the right, in front of Church Square on Google maps:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cwmafan,+Port+Talbot/@51.6136441,-3.7626501,155m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x486e5d60dee581df:0xafdc7af85699dc05!8m2!3d51.614044!4d-3.766471

I'm looking for a burial and there's no record of one at the Church. I know there are graves at this site, actually been there even, but was looking for someone else at the time. I've completely forgotten the name etc of this graveyard to try and find burial records. I think it was a cholera cemetery. I'm sure there was even some info online about it, but can't seem to find anything.

Anyone got any further info on it please?

Graveyards and Gravestones / Iron railings around grave
« on: Tuesday 03 September 19 22:04 BST (UK)  »
Anyone know when surrounding a grave with an iron railing became fashionable - the short pointed ended type not the tall fencing or linked chain types

Thanks

Hi

Not sure where exacrly to post, so thought I'd try here first.

I'm trying to identify a grave and graveyard from an old photo somewhere in North Wales, taken in the 1930's. I can't read the gravestone and I've tried to enhance it, withoout much luck. I haven't posted the image yet in case this is the wrong place to post it. Should I post it here to see if someone can work a miracle to allow any words to be made visible, or should I post it on the general Wales site, to see if someone can recognise the graveyard?

I'm not very optimistic about anyone being able to sucessfully enhance the image enough to allow reding any words, so would be grateful for any advice please since I don't want to end up duplicating posts.

Thanks
