Occupation Interests / Tent Maker
« on: Tuesday 03 May 11 21:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Have just discovered that my 3x great grandfather was a tent maker while living in Old Kent Road in London. This was in 1881. Any idea who these tents would have been for and what they would have looked like? I thought maybe they might be for Romani gypsies?

Any thought, much appreciated!

Kim :)

« on: Wednesday 16 February 11 19:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

This is my great grandmother Martha, holding her twin boys, Freddy & Robert in 1913. Freddy was my grandfather and his brother Robert sadly died a few months after this was taken. I would really appreciate it if someone could tidy it up a bit.

Thanks

Kim

Hi

Would someone be able to give me an approx date for this lady please. It hasn't scanned very well. Scratched onto the front is '74 but I don't think it's old enough to be 1874????

I know you are only supposed to post 1 picture a week but you lot did such a good job with my Grandma, I thought I'd post her twin Tommy, while the features are fresh in your minds!

A clean-up/ repair would be very very much appreciated.

Many many thanks

Hi
Could someone please have a go at dating this school photo please. I'm trying to connect it to the right ancestor and a date would help. It's a school in rural Wiltshire, if that helps.

Many thanks
Kim

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / What would the district be?
« on: Sunday 15 August 10 18:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I've started looking into my Wiltshire relatives and wondered where B, M & Ds would be registered if the person was living in Oaksey? I'm mainly looking at the 1800s if that helps.

Not being local to the area, I have no idea!

Thanks
Kim

Hi

I have just started looking into the Smith wing of my family (been putting it off for years) and am stuck already! My great grandmother was a Martha Ann Monks who married William Smith 02.03.1890 in Mitcham Surrey. I think Martha was born about 1868, but I can't remember where I got that info from.

I am trying to find her family but am getting stuck, possibly because the 'S' on Monks was added during her lifetime. Does this sound probable? Does anyone have any info on her parents they could share please?

Thanks for reading

Kim
