Lancashire Lookup Requests / Manchester Address of Vesta Street
« on: Sunday 13 February 22 12:56 GMT (UK)  »
I have been looking for the Manchester address of Vesta Street where some of my descendants lived in 1900 both at numbers 5 and 11.  I can't find anything about it online, its all advertising for the new waterside homes so I presume Vesta Street was near the canal and must have been pulled down by now.  A picture of how it used to be would be nice if anyone has one.  Appreciate any help.

World War Two / BLAKANG MATI ISLAND
« on: Tuesday 01 February 22 16:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to research my uncle Leonard Scholes who was in the Navy in WW2 at the above place which I believe is now called Fort Siloso, Singapore.  I have photos taken in 1945 but can find no records of him being in Singapore or for that matter anywhere, all I know he was in the Navy in the Far East.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Marriage for October 1921
« on: Thursday 20 January 22 16:34 GMT (UK)  »
My great uncle Ralph McMullen married Hilda Carmen Blakey in October 1921.  Marriage records show place of marriage as Prestwich but I have a photograph outside the church which has writing on the back showing - "Ralph & Hilda's marriage St Anne's Crumpsall."
Can any kind person find the marriage registration showing the wedding was in St Anne's? Could St Anne's have been classed as Crumpsall?
Any help appreciated

Armed Forces / McMULLEN family
« on: Thursday 30 December 21 12:02 GMT (UK)  »
I have been researching this family for a while and found father James McMullen died in India in 1864 of cholera while serving in an Irish Military Unit.  I'm now trying to find more information about his son Joseph McMullen who was born in India in 1865.  He married in 1886 and his wife was then living in Yorkshire. The little information I have is that he was a Corporal of 7th Dragoon Guards in 1871 and shows him born in Ireland but I have him born in India although his mother married again immediately and came back to England and he was certainly back in Yorkshire in 1891.
Any information would be appreciated.

Lancashire / SARAH KELLY MATHER
« on: Thursday 29 July 21 15:08 BST (UK)  »
I haven't worked out how to get these questions on the 'St Joseph's RC Cemetery, Moston' page, perhaps it can be transferred please.
I have been trying for years to find family connections to my great-gran-Sarah Kelly (married name Mather).  I have recently found what I think is where she is buried.  St Joseph's, 17 June 1936
Grave number: St James 1143.  There is no gravestone.  I wonder if anyone knows if there are any records of who may have buried her.  I've looked in the Archives but find them very confusing and got no further with my research.  Her husband William Mather was buried in Southern Cemetery, Chorlton-cum-Hardy in January 1925 but there is no headstone for him either.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Down / McMULLEN FAMILY Co Down and Antrim
« on: Tuesday 20 April 21 11:54 BST (UK)  »
I have discovered a birth of James McMullen, 30 Jan 1831, the record shows Brookfield, Drummuire. I also found that Drummuire became Randalstown but I can't find where Brookfield was/is.  Later the family moved into Belfast and some of the later children's births were recorded in St Patrick's, Belfast City.
Parents were Patrick McMullen, Flax Dealer and Sara Walsh.  I'd like to find out where they actually lived or any other information on the family.
Any insights would be appreciated.

Antrim Resources & Offers / Occupation and any other info
« on: Thursday 08 April 21 09:38 BST (UK)  »
I have been trying for years to find any information on my family McMullan or McMullen in Antrim.  I have found that my 3x Great Grandfather Patrick McMullen b.March 1813 in Antrim, his occupation was a Flax Dealer in 1862.  Firstly I'd like to know what a Flax Dealer did (I presume sells the flax) or where he did it. If I can find any information on this point it may point me in the direction of any other information on the family. He died in Lancashire in 1881. His parents were Patrick McMullen b.1791 believed to have been in the Battle of Waterloo and Sara Ann Walsh married 28 Sep 1823, in St Patrick's, Belfast city.
Any information would be amazing. :)
