Northumberland / Pendower, Newcastle upon Tyne.
« on: Tuesday 15 October 19 15:49 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find information about staff at Pendower between 1891 and 1897. The names of the staff are as follows:
M. Parker (f)
I. Curry (f)
H. Curry (f)
L. Berry (f)
J. Moffat (f)
Tom Smith.

I have a photograph of the above but cannot find them on any census material. If anyone had a relative who worked for the Pease family with any of the names above, I would be very grateful if they could contact me.
Similarly, if anyone knows where I could find employment / wages books etc. I'd be very interested. I know there are letters etc. at The Wellcome Foundation and Friend's libraries in Euston but I'm hoping there might be some information closer to Newcastle. Tyne and Wear and Northumberland Archives don't appear to have what I'm looking for.

World War One / 122nd Labour Company
« on: Monday 12 November 18 14:21 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find information about the activities of the 122nd Labour company during WW1 for my mother-in law who will be 90 soon. My mother-in-law wants to know more about what happened to her father who was gassed but survived. He suffered with ill health for the rest of his life but never talked about his experiences.
Prior to being in the labour Company he was in the DLI but I'm struggling to find any information about his service.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I've tried links from ancestry forums but none of them appear to work.

Europe / Malta 1841
« on: Friday 19 August 16 15:34 BST (UK)  »
My g.g.g.grandfather, Christopher Tate, a sculptor of Newcastle upon Tyne, England, journeyed to Malta in the hope of improving his health. He was suffering from Tuberculosis due to dust inhalation. I know he spent a number of weeks there (around February and March, 1841.
Is there any way that I can find out where he stayed, the date he arrived; and on which ship? He returned to England on the Great Liverpool steamer, arriving in London on 22 March where he died hours later. I was in Malta last week but didn't know where to look. I may be back in October and would love to be able to find further information.

Northumberland / Allotment Society Westerhope
« on: Saturday 16 November 13 11:14 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know where to find the names of members of the members of the Westerhope Allotment Society? My gg Grandfather was a miner based at Walker but we have always been told that he had a small-holding in Westerhope. My great grandmother told stories of how they played in the fields, had horses, etc. My gg grandfather grew medicinal herbs and kept books with recipes for herbal remedies which are now lost unfortunately. We do have an old photograph of the family which is supposed to be of them at Westerhope but I'm dubious.

Looking for any information about Eveline. She was born in 1891, married Joseph Stott in 1948 and died in 1974 in Newcastle. I believe she lived in Kenton. I know she had three children, possibly before marriage. She was living with Joseph for a number of years before their marriage.

Northumberland / Wallsend 'Four and twenty'
« on: Thursday 30 May 13 22:18 BST (UK)  »
Cess records from St Peter's, Wallsend in the 1730's refer to the 'Four and twenty'. I know that Edward Collingwood and James Moncaster were two of them. Does anyone know the names of the rest?
