Surrey / Hill Family & Maurice= Shere/Gomshall
« on: Thursday 25 August 11 11:56 BST (UK)  »
Rev F.C. HILL [1856-1919] was vicar of St James, Shere.  I have info on his life and death but wish to ascertain details of his family, especially any living.  His mother Harriet has a memorial window in the church; she was buried in Gomshall cemetery, probably adjacent to various other Hill family members.  Can anyone tell me if their tombstones still exist and I can visit to check dates etc. if necessary. I'm also interested in their relations, the MAURICE family; one Hilary Maurice was buried at Shere in 1980.  All help gratefully acknowledged.

Carmarthenshire / Williams, 'The Abbey', Kidwelly
« on: Tuesday 07 September 10 15:59 BST (UK)  »
Please can anyone offer details re the house of William Williams [died 1854]. He is in Lady Street in Censuses of 1841 and 1851, but elsewhere is said to be of 'The Abbey' or 'Abbey House'.  What or where is this house - is it still there? Did he leave a Will, or did his wife - nee Mary Ann Humberstone Jones - leave a Will when she died in 1865? ???
All help welcomed ~ Phil

Breconshire / Philip Vaughan, solicitor, mayor, Brecon
« on: Sunday 05 September 10 12:41 BST (UK)  »
I'm researching this chap who was solicitor in Brecon from 1821 [partner with Thomas Bold]. 1841 census has him in Lion Street - I'd like to know which house. Although he was thrice mayor of Brecon, the local papers failed to mention his death [25.11.1865 in Aberystwyth] - why? Had he upset the locals? Anyone know of a photo or portrait of him?  His will of 1863 names one of his properties as the 'Old Buck' in Brecon: anyone know it? can it be photographed ?  He also owned The Little Bell' in Brecon; was that part of The Bell' [large inn, now derelict property] ?
Please note: I have all his census info and details of marriage, family and parentage so I am not asking anyone to research that for me - thank you!
Phil
