Hello all Yorks Rootschatters.......

Am trying to find the birth place of my 4x Gt.Grandmother Alice Richmond.
All i have so far are her burial records from the Candie Cem, Guernsey that give her age at death as 64 years 9mths and her birthplace as England.
She had married a Army Man....Thomas Bramwell, when or where we have not managed to find out except it was not on Guernsey.
He retired in 1814 returning for a short time to his birth place of Stockport,Cheshire before the family returned to Guernsey where they are both buried.
I have been given what may be the closest clue so far in the fact that a Alice Richmond was Baptised 2/11/1776 records say she was the daughter of  Leonard Richmond of Grassington (Innkeeper)..The birth year would be right for my Alice..........My Alice called her son Leonard (poss clue) and that name has carried on down the family for 3 generations.
Is there anyone out there that could tell me if the Grassington Alice Richmond, died..married and clues would help.......
Sorry for bending your ears so long......!
Best Wishes...............LancsLass

Monaghan / Mis-Spelling on 1911 English Census..?
« on: Wednesday 08 April 09 13:51 BST (UK)  »
Hello all............Wonder if anyone can help, have been helping a distant relative of my husbands do her tree. We have found her Grandmother in St Annes on Sea in 1911 married with 2 children..Her place of birth is written as Monuaghan,Loughagnesh,Ireland.

I take it that this was meant to be Co Monaghan..but can anyone throw a light on the other name ???
The census was filled in by her husband so he may have spelt if as he heard it, allowing for the charming Irish accent..!!

Any ideas would be most welcome as our relie never knew her Grandmother, other than she had been Irish, this census has been the  first light on where she may have come from..
Many thank.............LancsLass.
