Angus (Forfarshire) / John Maguire/Mary Ann (Margaret) Williams 1848

Hello all

My ancestor John Maguire married Mary Ann (Margaret)married in 1848 in Australia? John has been listed as both a Sergeant Major or Drill Instructor in the 74th Regiment of Foot. They had a son Arthur born 30th June 1863 at Dudhope Barracks and Mary Ann died 5th July 1863 from childbed fever.

I'm struggling to find any information to take my research further back for John Maguire and wonder if anyone has any information to help?

Also I am stuck now with trying to confirm the marriage of John and Mary Ann as being shown as Australia as I am unable to find any more information on this.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you

Hello to all

I'm busy on one of my ancestral journeys and have come to a bit of a hiatus with any information regarding the parents of John McDougall who married Margaret Jack in February 1833 as listed in the Dysart parish register. Have tried different searches through ScotlandsPeople which i use frequently but can't seem to get any further back either through Fife or other Scottish location. Anyone else on the McDougall trail?

My Grandfathers were John Lindsay McDougall and Thomas Thomson McDougall both now deceased (and they were brothers). Their father was James Kinloch McDougall, his father was John Lindsay McDougall and then we get to the John who married Margaret. I list the above in case this means anything to fellow forumers researching the same tree?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated (and I'm now off to track down some of the Peter ancestors in Fife as well!)
