Somerset / Barfoot family from Charlton Musgrove
« on: Wednesday 19 May 21 07:51 BST (UK)  »
Unfortunately I have discovered the name Barfoot is more popular than i had thought.

William Barfoot was baptised 4/12/1825 in Charlton Musgrove  to parents Robert --Yeoman  and Mary( her maiden name unknown).
William is on the 1841 Census age 14 with his father Robert  for Shepton Montague . Robert is shown as a Farmer . No other family shown .
There is Poll Record for 1846 Shepton Montague which lists a Robert Barfoot. Unable to find any records after this date .

William marries Eliza Ruddick in 1863  ( Parents Henry Ruddick  and Elizabeth Singer from Midsomer Norton)  William and Eliza had 4 children. I am ok with tracing William and his family forward .

But would be grateful for any information on Williams parents Robert and Mary( unknown)  Barfoot and any siblings of Williams.

Thank You .

Antrim / Robert Allison Cully, born Cushendall
« on: Tuesday 11 May 21 07:39 BST (UK)  »
Robert Allison Cully/Culley was born 26 Jan 1905 in Cushendall, registered Ballycastle  to parents Robert and Eliza ( Lizzie) .
But I cant find anything about him and know very little about his parents . Keen to learn more.

His father Robert Cully /Culley was according to the 1901 Irish Census born Armagh . On that census he is single and living as a Boarder with the Irvine family at  Naul ,Tynan . On the the 1911 Irish census  he is married and  living with his wife and son at Garfield Place Ballymena and working as a Labourer . Census says they have been marred 7 years but I haven't managed to  find a marriage cert on GRONI.

His wife Lizzie is  Eliza Jane McKinley b 8/7/1867  Kilbegs . surname  shown as Mckinly on some records . She is the daughter of Robert McKinley and Mary Jane Armstrong /McKinley of Randalstown. Both dead before the 1901 Census.
I haven't managed to find Eliza in the 1901 Census .

I looked at couple of deaths for a Robert Cully in the years shortly after the 1911 census in case that would explain my missing persons but no luck.  The one 3/12/1912 Belfast  is for a 2 year old child. The one 29/1/1922 Belfast  is also not for either of my Robert Cullys as  the informant ant was the son in law of the person who died .

So what happened to Robert Allison Cully and his parents . ?
Grateful for any information.
Thank you .

Armagh / James Johnston of Tynan Armagh and brother Hugh Johnston
« on: Saturday 01 May 21 15:49 BST (UK)  »
Another popular name and alas no leads as to what happened to these brothers.

James  Johnston was born 23 July 1870 Armagh and Baptised Tynan Armagh. His parents are a James Johnston,a game Keeper b about 1838  who died march 1899 who marries Maratha McCormick.  She died 13 June 1911 (registered  Dungannon.)  The family lived and worked around  the Kilsampson Caledon area Co Tyrone.

While I have details on their other children ( although not 100% sure how many they had )I can find nothing on James or his brother Hugh b about 1866 in I  think in Kilsampson  . Did they die young or emigrate .?

Siblings of James and Hugh that I know of are--
Annie Elizabeth b 17/4/1865 born  Caledon married Warnock. Remains in Ireland
Sarah Jane b 10/7/1867 m Montgomery and went to America
Jane 1867-1878 born  Caledon
Robert 1873-1963 b Caledon m Charlotte F  Martin . Remains living and working in area
Ada May  B 1882 went to America--not certain she is part of this family .
I am ok on their family lines but the brothers remain a mystery.

Grateful for any information .
Thank You .

Fermanagh / Henry Hurst
« on: Tuesday 27 April 21 14:05 BST (UK)  »

I am seeking information on Henry Hurst b abt 1800 perhaps Ballyreagh Co Fermanagh. Father George Hurst ( Ballyreagh) 1766-1831 --buried Tempo

I found a Henry  Hurst on Groni died 4/2/1872 aged 72 at Aghavoory. A widower. The informant was a Robert Hurst also from Aghavoory. ) Ref is D/1872/151/1019/2/284 Lisnaskea. --this may be The same Henry ?

Griffiths Valuation 1847-64 has a Henry Hurst renting a house Tattyknuckle ,Aghalurcher.
There is also a burial for a Rebecca Hurst d 21/12/1846 age 32 at Aghulurcher and in brackets Tattyknuckle--could this be a possible wife.

If I have the correct Henry, he had brothers William 1791-1859 m Mary Hetherington ( 1818 Clogher Diocese but don't have record)
John Hurst 1796-1855 m Mary Jane Porter .
James 1806-1893 m Maybelle Aiken
Maybella Hurst 1805-1835.
Quite a  bit of information about his brothers on line but not Henry.

Grateful for any information.
Many thanks

Gloucestershire / Edward Batten Bristol
« on: Saturday 03 April 21 11:34 BST (UK)  »
Hope this is the correct board

I would welcome any information on the family of Edward Batten, a Barrister at law of the Inner Temple London.  And his family .
He was baptised 21 June 1590 in St Edmunds Salisbury and died 1638 Bristol. I understand that he lived at Temple Street Bristol. His father was  Thomas Batten.

There are a number of trees on line suggesting he married a Mary Pitt but I don't know if that is correct.

Grateful for any information.
Thank You .

Tyrone / William Latham
« on: Monday 22 February 21 07:33 GMT (UK)  »
I am interested in the Latham family of Ballytroan Co Tyrone . Latham can also be  spelt Leatham or Lathom
Rose Latham b abt 1630 was the daughter Of William Latham of Ballytroan and Rose ( Rosa) young who was I understand the daughter of Rowland Young of Drakestown co Meath.

It is probable Rose had siblings but who are they . Her  father  had most likely come at some stage from England but when. He was certainly there before Cromwell but  Was he latter rewarded with lands from Him .

Rose Latham married  George Blacker ,Blacker of Carrickblacker in Co Armagh  . There are trees and information on the Blacker family on line but while they mention Rose Latham and her parents there is no further information . Rose ( Latham) Blacker dies 4/2/1689 at Carrickblacker co Armagh and is buried at Seagoe Church .

Sorry not a lot to go on but interested in any information about the Latham family .
Thank you .

Antrim / Dr William Thomas Latham
« on: Tuesday 09 February 21 18:03 GMT (UK)  »
Seeking information on Dr William Thomas Latham who was admitted to the College of surgeons in Feb 1837 in Co Antrim. This information taken from Belfast Commercial Chronicle newspaper on FindMyPast .
Dt Latham had attended Trinity College  Dublin. He was not from Co Antrim but Co Tipperary and from one of the Latham branches from the area of Fethard and Killenaule.  I am not sure if his father is Oliver Latham 1780ish to 1822 is or William Hamilton Latham .
But in a newspaper on FindMyPast when the death of a Oliver Latham is recorded in Loire France 18 dec 1834 it mentions Dr Latham in Co antrim.
Sorry not a lot to go on but any information would be of assistance.
Thank You .

Sussex / Franci(e)s Shorter . Burwash area
« on: Tuesday 20 October 20 09:57 BST (UK)  »
I am hoping someone can help me with my mystery women Franci(e)s  Shorter .
On 7 Nov 1823 in Burwash she marries John Pennells  a agr labourer and they live in the area till at least 1871. First at Key Lands ( sorry dont know what that means) and latter  at Barn House Burwash.
But on the census returns from 1841-1871 no location is given for her place of birth.--Just not known . I have not found a death record either . After Johns  death she is working as a char women.
Her age from the census returns suggest a birth  between 1807-1811 but of course these  could be wide of the mark.
There are a few baptisms on Ancestry  in the Burwash area but the the dates dont really tally. Also a number of trees but the majority have  her as the daughter of a Charles and Sarah Shorter --but that family appear to  be well to do farmers in the Edenbridge area although Charles family are from Burwash.

It seems strange she didnt know from were she was born --could this suggest the workhouse ?

Interested in your views and if we can find a death record. Have only found 2 sons for her shown as Thomas b 1824 and Henry  Pennells 1829. Both stay in Burwash for most of their lives. Henry dies Cranbrook .

Many thanks .
