Shropshire / Joseph Nicholls born abt 1783 Wolds End, Salop (where?)
« on: Monday 14 January 19 08:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
can anyone help me with Joseph Nicholls please?
The 1851 census says born Wolds End, Salop - but as far as I know that is miles away in Gloucestershire...?
Wife was Ann, not sure of marriage - pre 1807 it would appear.
Children baptised at Smethwick, Staffs.
Thanks,
Sharon

Staffordshire Lookup Requests / NICHOLLS lookup in Smethwick/Harborne MI's
« on: Monday 14 January 19 02:38 GMT (UK)  »
Would any kind listers be able to check for MI's please at Smethwick and/or Harborne?
I have lost an Isaac NICHOLLS and wife Mary who had issue
Charlotte 1814-1819
Sarah 1816-?
Samuel 1814-1873

I've not traced what happened to Isaac & Mary, or their daughter Sarah.
Charlotte was buried at Smethwick.
There was another NICHOLLS family there at the same time - a Joseph & Ann, not sure if they are related or not?
If anyone can help that would be great,
thanks,
Sharon

Australia / Goulburn NSW marriage lookup 7 Oct 1874
« on: Sunday 09 September 18 01:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi rootschatters,
I am researching a DNA match, and trying to identify the parents of Henry WILSON who married Rebecca Jane JACKSON 7 October 1874 at Goulburn. His arrival in Australia with wife Grace in 1853 has parents William & Jane deceased, but I am not convinced, and I'm hoping that his second marriage might have more details.
Thanks,
Sharon

Australia / Passenger lists not on Ancestry/FindMyPast/FamilySearch?1853-1858
« on: Thursday 19 July 18 08:51 BST (UK)  »
I have a newspaper article documenting a Daniel Christian born about 1833 coming to Australia for 4 1/2 years for the Gold Rush At Bendigo, Spring Gully and Iron Bark. He was from the Isle of Man and came with fellow countrymen, however he returned home in May 1858.
I can't seem to find any record of his shipping either way?
thanks,
Sharon

Durham / Marriage 13 Sep 1910 at Esh Winning lookup?
« on: Friday 13 July 18 00:15 BST (UK)  »
Hi listers,
I am chasing a SHAW family from Esh Winning.
War records for John SHAW say that he married Mary Ann SCOTT on 13 Sep 1910 at Esh Manning.
Family Search has the marriage at St Godric, Durham, her father is named, but not his.
Several Ancestry trees have the father as George SHAW, and the family can be seen on the 1901 census at Esh, but I am not totally convinced as I have a DNA match to a descendant, and I have SHAWs from Huddersfield. Therefore I would like to try and identify the father of John SHAW so I determine if it is relevant or not. They appear to be Catholic, but my SHAWs were not.
Thanks for any help,
Sharon

William 1773 (probably married Ann Beardsworth 1806) then ???
Richard 1776-1860
Adam 1778 ???
Ann 1780 ???
Yates 1782-1826
James 1785 ???

Hi,
I am helping a friend.
Would anyone have access to Catholic records for Preston and surrounds please?
I am researching this family on ancestry
https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/19581427/person/29584580128/facts
Robert Bradley died 1859 age 70
supposed to the be the son Edward Bradley & Elizabeth Hesmondhalgh of Ashton
was a widow when married Mary Clarkson 1828.
I don't have any records to corroborate pre 1837.
Possible marriage to Frances Bolton 1815.
No baptisms found for any children for either of the wives.
No baptism found for Robert.
If anyone can help that would be much appreciated,
thanks,
Sharon
