Anglesey / Hugh Hughes of Anglesey
« on: Monday 11 September 23 22:33 BST (UK)  »
I have Hugh Hughes born in Anglesey in 1803 to Hugh and Margaret Hughes.   In 1830 he was caught stealing 2 horses and sent to Flint for sentence, and ultimately transported to Australia.   Does anyone know anything of his family in Anglesey please?  One horse belonged to a William Prytherch of Ty-mawr and the other to a Mr H.Hughes of Bodgnolwyn (hopefully not his father).  thank you

Worcestershire / James Walton & Jane Vicarage
« on: Thursday 03 February 22 08:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, currently researching a James Walton who married a Jane Vicarage (few different spellings for her surname) in 1845 in Martley registration district (Vol18 Page 579).   The had children William, Roseanne, Thomas, Louisa and Charles, and I think Thomas died in 1889 in Martley district.
Could somebody kindly tell me who the parents of James Walton were.   thank you.,

Dorset / Dorchester/Beaminster look up
« on: Thursday 16 July 20 03:16 BST (UK)  »
Hello, hoping someone can enlighten me.  I have Bertha Matilda Jeffery Saunders born in Dorchester in 1887 (5a/339) to John & Amelia Saunders.   Using Jeffrey as a clue, I found a John Saunders & Amelia Jeffery married in Beaminister 5a/703 in June qtr 1878.  Bertha definitely has siblings: William, Herbert, Elizabeth/Maud, and Victor.  At some point the family come to Australia.  Unfortunately I cannot find any more info in Aust about John, but Amelia died in NSW 1943 and the death notice indicates John already deceased.  Too many John Saunders!  Could someone check some census or something, which might provide some clues, perhaps his parents names or something.   Many thanks.  Sorry UK having such problems with covid.  Aust now going downhill at the moment, people too complacent here.

Sussex Lookup Requests / Thomas Crittenden in Sussex
« on: Friday 24 May 19 11:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello, hoping someone might be able to shed light on this chap.   I suspect he was born May 1818 Thomas Crittenden in Sussex, son of Hannah Crittenden.  But it seems perhaps a father "Thomas Balcomb"?   In June qtr 1839 Thomas Crittenden married Alice Whiteman.  It appears they migrated to Aust soon after marriage, and children born as Balcomb.  Alice Balcomb died in Aust 1854, Thomas remarried, more children, and died in Aust 1906 aged 88 according to obituary. (sometimes Balcombe). I do not know whether they migrated as Balcomb or Crittenden, nor why the change of name if they are one and the same family.  Would appreciate some help. :)

England / cooke marrying Burge
« on: Tuesday 21 May 19 23:05 BST (UK)  »
Hello,my problem as follows.   In 1916 Mary Ann Cooke died in Aust. An obituary said she was born on 15.7.1818 In Oxfordshire, maiden surname Burge, married in 1835 to George Edward Cooke, and arrived in Aust in 1841 with 3 children.   Another obit says she was born in Yorkshire.  No parents names recorded in bdm index for her.  I cannot find them as passengers on a ship.  Cooke referred to as Edward George in all records in Aust except that obituary (98% sure I have the correct line).   No obituary when he died in 1875 but death index refers to his parents as Edward and Sarah.   12 children, including one called Edward George.   Edward George's (Jnr) obituary says he was born in England and arrived in 1841, but I find an Edward George born in 1838 to Edward G and Mary A in the Aust area they lived.   So lots of issues, and any help from England would be greatly appreciated

England / Sunderland birth
« on: Saturday 05 May 18 22:42 BST (UK)  »
From Aust I am seeking info on Elsie May Williams who married in 1923 in Aust, stating age 23, born Sunderland (not sure which district that is), father Thomas Edgar Williams, engineer of Auckland NZ, mother Margaret Edwards (decd).  (freebdm has an Elsie born in 1902 Sunderland 10a/756).
My basic skills haven't revealed any other information, except in 1892 a Thomas Edgar Williams was appointed administrator of his sister's estate (Emma Elizabeth Williams), which might possibly be the same man. Would anyone care to help please?
