The Common Room / bastardy orders
« on: Monday 03 May 10 07:33 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know who the other person would be who is named on a bastardy order ? I see on the A2 website that not just the one I have, but quite a few others name 2 men responsible for support of the child.  Obviously the childs father is one - but is this other person the mothers father ?  It woud be very helpful to know who this would be.  (order is from Suffolk)

thanks

Help!

I am wading through 50 possible deaths for my Elizabeth Morgan.  Last known address of her was Wheeler Street - which appears to be spitalfields.  This was the 1861 census - please can anyone tell me would this be Whitechapel in the free bmd records ?  Or is it Shoreditch, I am a bit confused where to start looking.

Thanks!

Armed Forces / Royal Navy Seaman discharge 1879
« on: Monday 07 April 08 07:20 BST (UK)  »
The Navy Seaman record I just downloaded from the NA has " Pun Coquimbo" in the "Wither and for what cause discharged".  Googling this has come up with a place name in Chile .. does anyone know if this is likely !?  Rather interesting for a boy from Bethnal Green.his 10 year service was up and he appears to have signed on for another 10 during this time.
Thanks, Sue

Hi

I have  a Jonathan Roe married to a Susanna in the 1841 census both born Sussex ages 52 (c1789) and 42 (c1799)

Susanna is alive in 1851 under Susan of Linchmere Sussex.  Oldest child I could find appears to be born c1816 also  b: Linchmere.

Much appreciated if you could find Susan's maiden name.
