Berwickshire / 31 February 1845?????
« on: Thursday 18 August 05 20:13 BST (UK)  »
Has anybody ever come across the date 31 February, shown on a grave.  I have a photograph of a gravesite at Preston, Berwickshire, Scotland, which clearly shows the date of death as 31 February 1845.  As you will all know, there is never 31 days in February.  Does anybody know whether the calander was ever different back then??  or if this is a mistake engraved on the headstone.  I am truely confused.

Hi, can anybody help with finding a death record for George Newman of Foxearth, Essex.  He was living in the street, Foxearth from 1881 to1901, I can't find any record of his death in the registers.  He was born abt 1842, his age given in the 1901 census was 58 years, he had remarried after his first wife died and and was living with his new wife Elizabeth, two young children Charles and Harold and daughter Kate (aged 36) from previous marriage.  Would love to be able to find some record of this family after 1901.

Somerset / Help - Bath Police Records???
« on: Saturday 23 April 05 11:34 BST (UK)  »
My 3x Great Grandfather Jonathan Sutton was a Police Inspector in Bath, Somerset.  He died on the 6 June 1878 of a fractured skull.  I'm assuming it may have been whilst on duty or connected with his occupation.  Does anybody have any suggestions about obtaining police records or coronor's reports etc.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I'm researching from New Zealand.

many thanks
