World War Two / RAF Records
« on: Wednesday 05 February 20 13:42 GMT (UK)  »
Good Afternoon,

I sent for my late fathers RAF records and am more than confused. Dad was RAFVR, served from 1941 at the age of 20. As a civilian he was a driver so was attached to 7MTC. I know he was driving HGV boxed aircraft around the UK bases, was stationed at RAF Pembrey, Cardiff Aerodrome, Biggin Hill to name just a few. Looking at his records it mentions not only 7MTC but Balloon Command and a few others. Was it normal for drivers to be sent to other types of service. I did google 7MTC could find nothing, any help would be much appreciated.

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / John Allard
« on: Wednesday 17 October 18 14:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
I'm researching John Allard born around 1873 Birmingham. 1893 John married Mary Ann O'Hare the marriage certificate on Ancestry is blank gives no information other than his signature and the two witnesses! ( Sent for a copy from the GRO today)

John died 1935 his death certificate shows his address as Ladypool Road Sparkbrook, using the address I discovered a long criminal past convicted of many crimes including manslaughter in 1912.
Further research took me to an article in the press where he is listed as one of the "Peaky Blinders".

I can find no trace of the man prior to the 1911 census does anyone have any ideas please, BMD shows no birth, from the criminal records he was known to use aliases so perhaps he wasn't born Allard - would the authorities check his birth record when he was sentenced?

Technical Help / Useable Space COMPLETED WITH THANKS
« on: Thursday 02 August 18 19:27 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help please. I bought a reconditioned laptop (it's going back!) The usable space seems awfully low - the seller said it's not. W7 Professional 64bit - hardly any programmes installed. Compared to my present laptop 3GB it's just a third of usable space.Photo's attached

Devon / Riviera Terrace Exminster
« on: Friday 13 July 18 10:57 BST (UK)  »
Good Morning All,

Wonder if anyone could help me please. I have a death certificate for a Bristol man who died at the above address 19th Sept 1941. George Vowles had lived around the Bristol area for most of his life was still there 1939 so no idea how he came to be in Devon when he was seriously ill.

Any suggestions please of where he could be buried in Exminster?

Thanks

« on: Thursday 15 March 18 10:53 GMT (UK)  »
Good Morning,

Ernest J Bastow is listed on the Sheerness War Memorial in Kent yet there appears to be no trace of him on CWGC or Ancestry.com military search.

I found his birth, marriage & census records but nothing more.

Any suggestions please.

Many Thanks

Hi All,

Can anyone help please take a photograph of a grave at the above churchyard? Herbert George Benney died 1923 his grave is listed on the Memorial Index so I assume there is a headstone.

Your help would be very much appreciated
