The Common Room / An interesting one!
« on: Saturday 11 February 12 19:20 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there, I have been told by some relatives of mine that they have an inherited 'disease' that is in their blood. They say that it is caused by having some 'forgein blood' from their ancestors' blood. I have done quite a lot of research into our tree and cannot point out any 'forgeiners' in that line. Can anyone help and find who it ma have come from as we are so interested in having 'forgeiners' married into our family!

Here are some pointers - the blood must have come from Martha Patricia Fox (1894-1974) m. Leslie Cartwright (1890-1965)  from Belper, Derbyshire and therefore beyond this couple in the tree. The family have always come from Belper or thereabouts not very far from there. Please help, we are so excited to find out! Many thanks, Sally.

Derbyshire / An odd marriage?
« on: Thursday 01 September 11 20:46 BST (UK)  »
The 1841 census has thrown this up for me.  It have left me confused as it does not state the relationship between the household members.  Are Samuel and Hannah Married? If so there's a large age gap! I initially thought that her husband had died and this was his father.  I looked up a marriage and 27 March 1825 in Ilkeston seemed to fit a Samuel and Hannah Cook. Then I looked into a birth for this Samuel - I could not find one for the approx age of Hannah.... could she have married an oldie?...!!
Here is the transcription:

Derbyshire / Williamson
« on: Thursday 01 September 11 15:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi guys.

I am aware that Edith Ashley and Frederick Williamson had 6 children.
Two children I cannot find on the system.
Henry Edward and Marjorie.
Their parents were married in Burton on Trent 1908 but lived in Ilkeston after that time.
What year where these two children born in?

Derbyshire / HELP!
« on: Wednesday 31 August 11 14:52 BST (UK)  »
I guys, I have started my partner's family tree.
However, I am now stuck...

May Latham b1891 married in1919 to James Cooper b1890
I would like to find out her parents - on the marriage to James, it states the brides father as John Latham. However I cannot find her mother or siblings.
Can you help?!

Also James Cooper was a widow when he married May Latham. Who was he married to previously? Did they have any children from his previous marriage?

I understand that May Latham and James Cooper had a son Charles R T Cooper, did they have anymore children?

Also, Joan Williamson b1927 married Charles R T Cooper b1926 in 1948 Ilkeston. Her mother's maiden name was Ashley, but cannot find what their anmes and DOB etc are.

Help me please! I'm hitting a HUGE brick wall!

Derbyshire / Looking for genealogist to hire
« on: Thursday 25 August 11 20:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am looking for a genealogist to hire at a reasonable price. My family are mainly from Derbyshire. I have completed vast amounts of research myself already. In fact over 400 entries on my tree. I have some stones unturned and some mysteries too. I would also like to find the missing gaps that I never knew existed with my limited knowledge and resources of genealogy. I want to find scandal! Stories of my family are more what I am interested in. Can you help at a reasonable price? I am on a budget! I have a PDF of entries to assist. Sally.

Derbyshire / Does anyone know William Fox's mother's maiden name and father?
« on: Monday 28 February 11 20:47 GMT (UK)  »
William Fox b1816 Turnditch, Derbyshire.

(He married Hannah Bamford b1821) in 1843 Belper.

I would like to find out the maiden name of William's mother 'Rebecker' as transcribed in the 1841/51 census.  Rebecker's spouse must have died prior 1841 as is not cited in the census.

I have looked on parish records etc but no such luck as I am not familiar with them.

Please can someone help?

Many thanks

Sally
