World War Two / Identifying units - North Africa and Italy
« on: Saturday 19 June 21 22:38 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to identify a man's units from airgraph Christmas cards, one sent from North Africa, the other from Italy. Unfortunately the gremlins are not allowing me to post attachments.

The first is "150 Coy [P?]C Sect 10 BNAF". It's the [P?]C bit I am unsure about.

The second is "2915 C[S?]U CMF". It's the C[S?]U bit I am unsure about.

I have a picture showing his cap badge, but again it won't allow me to attach it as "there is already an attachment of the same name", which is not the case.

Armed Forces / Missing Chelsea Pensioner Record?
« on: Sunday 23 February 14 22:38 GMT (UK)  »
Maybe this is not the correct place to post this.

The National Archives have a record (WO97/293/55) for William Urquhart, a Chelsea out pensioner. He was born in Turriff about 1788 and served in the 10th, then the 7th, being discharged in 1836. The NA site directs me to Findmypast, but I cannot see a record for him there. There is another William Urquhart (born 1838), but it is not him. Am I just not looking in the right place, or is the record missing from Findmypast?

Two of these photographs are definitely of my grandfather; I think the others are too. Are these all of the same man?

Is this man a driver in the Royal Artillery or could he be wearing a Canadian uniform?

Banffshire / Carlton Cafe, Banff 1941-2
« on: Wednesday 31 October 12 21:44 GMT (UK)  »
Someone I'm researching worked briefly at the Carlton Cafe in Banff in late 1941, early 1942. Can anyone tell me anything at all about the cafe?
