Any advice please. My family name Hardy traced back to 1780 Ellerburn near Thornton Dale . Other Hardys   there but connection elusive. Family oral history and local historian Jefferies 1931 would have the family there since 1717. How should I approach solving this riddle ? Thanx

World War One / Royal Field Artillery
« on: Saturday 16 May 20 15:02 BST (UK)  »
Trying to research my great uncle Robert Hardy b1876 . A photograph of him in uniform of the Royal Field  Artillery sees him pictured with aButton stick. It appears he was a gunner/ driver. His home address was in Church Street Thornton Dale but he was in service and so lived away all the time. In 1911 he was a footman to Sir Archibald George Weijul MP of 12 Grosenor Squre London. Any suggestions as to how info about this ? Thanx.
