Lincolnshire / Nora Newton, later Reeson, born 1912, died 1949.
« on: Friday 05 April 24 18:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi all, I am tracing the ancestors of Nora Newton born in 1912 in Lincoln RD, and looking at her life too. In 1938 she married Thomas Reeson, having just stopped working at Robey's in Lincoln. She died in 1949. I am wondering if anyone has information about Nora, apart from her marriage, children or ancestors! Photographs would be wonderful. Also, any jnformation about the sort of work she did at Robey's. She was presented with a clock when she left the firm.

Cavan / James Curry b1924 and his parents
« on: Thursday 28 July 22 14:22 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I have been searching for quite a while for James Curry, born in 1924 in either Killesher or Kinawley parishes of Clogher's Catholic Diocese. No luck with the GRO or with the NLI or national archives in Dublin. Also, his parents were another James Curry and Maria Murphy, their first child born in 1916. As the parishes cross the Cavan Fermanagh border, the records could be in either. If anyone can help I shall be very grateful. Andrew Wilson

Europe / Christine Kleinertz
« on: Thursday 18 November 21 14:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone. Christine Kleinertz was born in Nord Rhein Westfalen, Germany on 6th February 1891. In about 1920 she married Edward Delfosse,  an Englishman, and they went to London in 1921. I want to find a record of Christine(a)'s birth or baptism, the names of her parents and possible siblings. The 1891 date comes from the 1939 Register. Any help or information will be much appreciated. Andrew Wilson (London SW4).

Lanarkshire / James Canavan
« on: Sunday 31 January 21 00:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. I am trying to help someone! Their grandfather was James Canavan and all they know is that he married Jane Quinn. Scotland's People has the marriage in Kirkintilloch in 1948. The only probable birth is in 1921 in Cumbernauld, which would tie in with a 1988 death in Shotts at the age of 66. Do any of you know anything about the births and parents of James or Jane?

I am searching for information about the birth and parents of James Chaffey. He married Rachel Sugg in Lewisham in 1856. The 1881 census has James as an upholsterer aged 48, born Newbury, Berkshire. Does anyone know who his parents were?

London and Middlesex / Jonathan Hawes, died 1837 in the City of London
« on: Wednesday 18 March 20 20:10 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. I have been researching one branch of the Hawes family and got back to Jonathan Hawes, buried in the City of London in 1837, age given as 33. He was married in 1828 to Maria Scott, at St George's Church, Camberwell. There is no trace of his baptism or origin. I assume that he may be a son or nephew of Edmund Hawes, buried in Camberwell in 1823, aged 65. He is surely the Edmund Hawes born in West Wycombe, Buckinghamshire in 1759. There is a Will of William Hawes of  Camberwell, dated 1814, but it mentions only daughters. There was another Jonathan Hawes, married in 1813. He was born in Berkhamsted. All ideas will be welcome.

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / Question re My heritage DNA test
« on: Wednesday 18 March 20 20:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. Over a year ago i did a My Heritage DNA test. I should say that I was born in England. My father's ancestors are all English for centuries, apart from one of his grandmothers who was Welsh, as were her forbears. My mother's ancestry is entirely Scottish, and no doubt there are strong Viking roots via Orkney. I knew nothing about the different types of DNA test, and was certainly told nothing by MH. The results came back that I was over 50% Scandinavian, the rest Scots and Welsh. English percentage 0%!! Someone has said this may have been an autosomal test. Is this right, and what does it mean? Thanks for any information.

Other Countries / Elisha Weir and Dorcas Pottinger, born Jamaica
« on: Wednesday 18 March 20 19:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hello. I am trying to find the ancestors of Elisha Weir, born 1933 and Dorcas Pottinger (later his wife), born 1937, both in Clarendon, Jamaica. Their birth records have not been digitised by the LDS Church. Their is an earlier Elisha Weir who died in Clarendon in 1938 aged 45. He may be the father.
