Hi, I am looking for anyone researching the family of John Thom or Thomas and Sarah Robertson. It appears as though they married on 25 April 1851 Scone, Perth, Scotland (source Family Search). Children could be David bc 1867; Sarah bc 1871; John bc 1864, Helen bc 1858; James bc 1855 and maybe Mary bc 1854.

Dumfriesshire / James Williamson weaver in Kier
« on: Saturday 22 March 14 10:18 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone

I am looking for a needle in a haystack at the moment.

I have a marriage registration for James Williamson, grocer and Eupheme Stewart on which is stated that James was the son of the late James Williamson, weaver in Kier, in the Parish of Auchterderran. I was wondering if anyone who had access to burial records for Kier would be kind enough to look them up and see if there is a burial for him prior to 14 January 1821 (the date of the marriage). If there is I would love to know what information is recorded and also if it mentions his wife's name.  The only information I have on James Williamson the weaver is what is on his son's marriage registration.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Canada Lookup Request / BC Archives Lookup
« on: Friday 31 January 14 04:12 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I was wondering if someone could do a BC Archives look-up for me at either the archives or an agency that holds their films.

I am looking for the death registrations for Williamson Westwood and Ann Gordon Westwood. I am particularly interested in the parents names of Williamson Westwood if they are listed on the registration. Details of their deaths are as follows:

Williamson Westwood died 31 March 1931. His age was 68. The event place was New Westminster. The registration/call number is 1931-09-460357. Roll/BC Archives Film number is b13143. GSU microfilm number is 1952654.

Ann Gordon Westwood died 6 September 1943. Her age was 84. The event place was Burnaby. The registration/call number is 1943-09-630859. Roll/BC Archives Film number is b13180. GSU microfilm number is 1953640.

The above information was obtained from doing a search of the archives web site. I live in Australia so would appreciate it if someone is able to do this look-up for me.

Thanking you in advance.

Fife / Williamson WESTWOOD and Ann GORDON
« on: Friday 22 February 13 09:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all

I am trying to find a marriage for the above couple between 1870 and 1890. Ann could also be known as Ann Ross Gordon.

I have found marriages for the following children of theirs in Canada -

Hugh Westwood married Harriet Frances Thomas
Williamson Westwood married Wilhelmina Thomson
Walter Gordon Westwood married Jessie Margaret McKenzie
Jessie Gordon Barclay Westwood married Ernest Charles Grist

All the above children stated they were born in either Fifershire or just Scotland. Now I think the Williamson Westwood who married Ann Gordon could be the son of Peter Westwood and Mary Webster.

Any help finding their marriage or births of their children greatly appreciated.

Fife / Captain Dalrymple Dawson
« on: Friday 08 February 13 03:55 GMT (UK)  »
Hi to all

Looking for any information what-so-ever on Dalrymple Dawson, especially, when and where he was born and the names of his parents. He was the master of the convict ship 'Aurora' which left Portsmith in July 1833 and arrived in Australia in November 1833. One of the convicts on his ship formed a relationship with Isabell Bissett Dawson and I am wondering if there is a family connection between the two Dawson's. Isabell's parents were David Dawson and Mary Grainey and they came from the Fife area of Scotland.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Renfrewshire / Duncan Lamont
« on: Sunday 05 August 12 06:19 BST (UK)  »
Hi I am hoping someone may be able to help me. I have a Duncan Lamont who married Catherine Leitch 26 April 1825 West or Old Parish, Greenock according to Family Search Records. Catherine was the daughter of John Leitch and Elizabeth Ann Aldise. Duncan I think was the son of Colin Lamont and Agnes McIver/McIvor. Catherine and two sons, Duncan John Lamont and Robert Leitch Lamont arrived in Australia on 21 February 1850 on board the Glenbervie and another son, John, arrived in February 1852.

What I would like to know is what happened to her husband Duncan - when did he die? Also, when was he born?

Catherine had siblings already in Australia when she emigrated which makes me believe Duncan died prior to 1850.

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Midlothian / James Smails died Leith Hospital 1863
« on: Thursday 02 August 12 23:52 BST (UK)  »
Hi to all

Not sure if I am posting in the correct place but here goes -

I found the following entry on Scotland BDM Exchange and am now looking for a grave/headstone that may give me an indication as to who his wife was and possibly children.

James Smails, son of Thomas Smails and Lillias McKay died 6 June 1863 Leith Hospital, Leith.

Now the Smails could also be Smail or Smealls and the McKay could be Mackie - these Scottish names get changed with every entry  :-\

Hope I have some luck.

Australia / Williamson Family in Tasmania
« on: Tuesday 24 July 12 22:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi to everyone

I am looking for anyone researching the following Williamson family:

James b. 1811
Alexander b. 1814
John b. 1818
Thomas b. 1820

All were born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, the children of James Williamson and Elizabeth Whyte. They all arrived in Tasmania on board the Dunmore which left Leith on 19 July 1830 and arrived in Hobart Town on 28 February 1831. Their sister Janet was also on board with them but I think I have discovered what happened to her - waiting on a death transcript to confirm my theory.

I would really like to know what happened to the boys and so far have not had any luck in my search.

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Fife / Thomas Smeall and Lilias Mackay
« on: Saturday 09 June 12 05:54 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Just wondering if anyone else is researching the above family - Thomas' surname  ??? could be spelt Smail or Smeaill or other variant and Lilias has also been recorded as Lillie Mackie.

They were married 7 May 1802 Aberdour, Fife, Scotland and their first three children were born in Dunfermline and fourth in Kirkcaldy.

I am particularly interested in Thomas' occupation as well as when and where he and Lillie died.

All I have been able to find so far is their children - James b. 1803; John b. 1804; Robert b. 1809 and Lilias b. 1816.

Any help greatly appreciated.
